Help identifying Gitane 1960s or ???

Hi

Should I keep my bike longer? & what's it worth?

It's a late 1960s 8 Speed Gitane. Seems all original parts.
I wrote to gitaneUSA Stephan who confirmed its late 60s to very early 70.

Details:-

Velo de course vintage collections
En parfait état général,entièrement révisé.
Marque française, gitane cycles Nantes.
Cadre léger/lightweight, impeccable de 55cm
Wheelset acier rigida
Pneus tout neuf,remplacés cette semaine.
Pédalier acier, double plateau huret à clavettes avec pédale acier et cale pied.

Derrailleur front & Back ,huret

8 Speed/ vitesses intégrés fonctionne très bien,très rare.

Porte gourde,aluminium

Mâchoires de freins aluminium, mafac racer

Brakes aluminium, mafac racer.

Selle confortable d origine,flash

From France. Here is a photo:-

Bonjour,

Le velo semble etre en bon etat.

Est-ce la taille correcte pour vous?

Il semble que ce soit trop petit.

Bonjour, oui c'est 55cm: medium. Parfait pour 178cm.

Maybe it's the angle of the camera.

i know this is an old thread. But this Gitane looks like the one i had in the mis 70s when I was in college. I am happy to see the photo. I just have vague memories of it. I had a long silver air pump attached to the down tube that I think was original. Mine was 18 speeds. Any one else with photos similar, please post. thnank you.
