Help me identify this Miyata frame please

Sorry for the bad pics, but they are coming from the seller. The bike appears to have mostly new components (with the exception of the Shimano 600 headset), but I'm guessing a 912?

Thanks

Hard to say if a miyata but that is a frankenbuild. Fork looks replaced, mismatched wheelset, no decals, possible rattle can paint etc. I would personally wait for a more original miyata or at least a frame that is in good shape and pass on this. It could also be any number of other japanese frames. It does roughly match 1984 912 color scheme though.

Bikes: Yes, please.

Miyata. And a nice one, by the looks of it. Better pics would help, though.

Definite franken-build! Specialized stem and bars, Modolo Professional brakes and levers... the frame is what interests me but I was trying to narrow down what kind of tubing it has. I've been patiently waiting for a 56cm frame to pop up on CL for a new build and this one caught my eye.

I was also thinking 1984 912. And those are definitely not the original forks.

It's definitely a Miyata based on the lug cut-out. The only American market model in black with a silver head tube were the 912 and 312. However, the 912 with this colour scheme used top mount shift levers and I didn't think that cutout went down to the 312 level. It has dropout eyelets, so it's not a repainted Team or Pro. Forks are replacements, so crash inspection is warranted. Maybe it was originally silver and someone did a black repaint, due to bent top and down tubes? That would also explain the lack of decals and suggest a circa 1983 model 912.

All of this is suspect enough to make me pass. And more importantly, the seller told me he had another buyer who wanted to come see it but I was first in the queue, and then he disappeared on me! Oh well I will keep looking. Good things come to those who wait. Thanks for the replies.
