It depends on the second in time. I have so many reasons it is hard to say which dominates as they all do! I would like a Ti bike, a custom bike from either Strawberry and/or Vanilla and or RS or all.

There is a list of Italian bikes I would like to own and then settle down to a few after experiencing them, I have started on that bunch with the Colnago and Pinarello. I would REALLY like to have a De Rosa. You guys have convinced me that the list of 10 Italians is way to short and should be expanded!

Then there is the American breed of desirables including Paramount, Serrotta, oh did I mention Vanilla?

We haven't really talked about technology either. I would like to have a bike from the early 50's, or several with different "groups" even though they didn't exist as such. Rod shifting, front and back, would be a fun thing to learn and expereince.

Finally, cause i am tired of typing, those bike that i lusted for or owned in my short life on this earth, replacement of my Le Champion, Peugeot, Bridgestone would work. Of this bunch, I would expect to only find the Pug.

My challenge is that I need to have a 59 or 60 frame. So my finding something that would fit is somewhat problematic.

Early to mid-80's Olmo in pearl white. I lusted after the frames in the old LBS when I was a teenager

Really not looking, but the bikes I'd be most interested in are:

A lotus odyssey, 84' in blue.
Ritchey fillet brazed roadie
60s de rosa
An umberto Marnati

I'm also on the look out for an Umberto Marnati frameset.

I have Gran Sport, Nuovo Record and Super Record groupsets around.

Plenty of wheelsets and odds and ends as well.

I'll be looking high and low.

My wife's family in Bayern is on the lookout.

Also looking for a Herse or Routens for a long term project.

Does it ride "nice" on the test ride?

He's mostly retired...not sure that's an option now.

I honestly don't know why I even ride anything else...the Marnati is everything I've always wanted in a bike.

I can easily see why you like it so much.

Really, it's such a beautiful, unique bike.

It's hard to decide though. My bike "moods" take me in so many different directions.

I've also been very tempted to give Roland Della Santa a call.

I've heard he has been building a few "wide tire" capable road bikes.

They are always beautiful to my eyes, but wider tires would make the bike much more useful for me on our roads here in the Twin Cities.

RDS would DEFINITELY be one of the guys I strongly considered, and he's really under market on pricing. His stuff is beautiful and timeless.

Absolutely correct.

I ride my son's RDS occasionally and it is a fabulous bike.

At any price.

+1 on a Della Santa
Della Santa custom built frames for those interested.

I want a Merlin Extralight, not sure which year, to replace my 'almost an Extralight'.

I almost need a lightweight from my birth year (or close) = 1951. A trip to Europe may be in order, to coordinate with wife's addiction to Italy.

This n+1 isn't strictly a C&V, but I'd like a totally utilitarian rain commuter bike.

Disc brakes, full chaincase, 8 speed IGH, fenders with mudflaps, dyno hub and generator lights, flat resistant 32 mm tires with reflective sidewalls and tubes loaded with sealant, frame powdercoated in retroreflective fluo yellow, drop bars level with saddle.

It'd be weird and ugly but . . .

Mostly because I like to have a project going. But lately I'll grab any tall (23 inch), quality 80s MTB as long as it's not crazy priced.

They are just too much fun.

Given that I just picked this up I guess I also have to say 80s-90s Japanese, even if it's too small.

And anything cool for under $100

You know, if I came across one of those early '80s Trek 170's, in my size and in good shape, for a good price........ I could talk myself into one of those pretty easily.

I'm completely happy with what I have, but if I were to find one of these at an attractive price...

Heck, I might even buy one at an unattractive price. Such is the allure of Celeste, chrome, Super Record and Almarc leather h-bar wrap - and I already have the special pantographed brake levers!

I guess the urge hasn't bubbled up for me for three years now. I own ten bikes including the tandem. There are a couple I think I would like, such as a PX-10 in memory of the two that were stolen from me. I'd like to try a Frejus, and a friend even offered his to me. It might be too big, and I haven't accepted the offer. I've been watching sales of PX-10's with the idea that I'll grab one that is convenient and underpriced, but a few have come around, and I haven't bothered. Maybe I'll do it in a few years.

I've been meaning to sell my Bianchi Volpe and Raleigh Twenty, since I don't ride them any more.

I split my evening club rides between a slew of retro-roadies and my custom. I am holding the banner for 80's steel all alone in my neck of the woods.

Though, if I were to build a "faster bike", I would put together a 15 lb Bowman Palace R. It screams "full on", and would probably be just the thing for 2 hour evening fast group riding.
