Bike and Groupset ID?
I know this bike is from the mid 80's with SLX tubing, but beyond that I'm lost. Any help with groupset etc would be appreciated.

Not much to see there. An 85-ish Cinelli SC with 1st gen C record? Lovely. The hoods should be white?
Edit, brakes may be SR.

Very nice!
I think clubman got the answer right, based on my limited knowledge of Campagnolo C Record.
Are you receiving the appropriate number of "oohs" and "aahs" when you bring it out for group rides?

Are you kidding or just playing low key ?
This is one of the absolute top of the line and most famous bikes and set ups of it's era. And with the Cinelli VIP set on top of that.
If you are a newbie, this is the ULTIMATE start. Congrats on the Cinelli Supercorsa with Campagnolo C Record 1st gen group, mixed with some Super Record parts. The Delta brakes where not very popular so they very often replaced with Super Record. Google Campagnolo Catalogue 18 bis.
Is it yours? What's the story behind the bike?
Please share more and larger photos? The forums photo internal photo function is obsolete. Please use Imgur, Flickr, Google Photo (Drive) or Dropbox.

The bike belongs to a friend of mine who is quite ill and he would like me to sell it for him. I was having a difficult time deciphering the groupset and figured this group would be able to tell me with relative ease details abut the bike. I wish it was mine, but it is not. I have a ton of quality images, I certainly can post more if you would like to see them.

Sad to hear about your ill friend, but that's often the case with bikes like this one. The owner will only part with them at a critical point in their life.
The Cinelli VIP set also came with a saddle bag in the same leather/suede as on saddle and handlebars.

Yes more and larger photos are very welcome.

1985 Cinelli SC with C Record head set, crank, shifters and derailleurs (from what I can see). Can't see the seat post, but brakes and brake levers are Campagnolo Record, on VIP Cinelli 64 bars and a Cinelli 1R stem. Cinelli VIP saddle. I can't see the rims/hubs well enough to guess. It looks to be about a 53 cm frame.
A brass suede brush and a gentle touch can make the bar wrap and saddle look new.
The bike *should* bring over $2k for your friend, depending on presentation.

Nuovo Record two bolt seat post (anomoly), C Record hubs, tubular (not clincher) rims, C Record cranks/BB.
Bike looks very nice. Are there water bottle bosses on the seat tube? This is an early 1985, they started putting them on sometime in 1985.
One of my favorite Cinelli colors from the 80's.
Sticking with $2k+ for a value. A little presentation work will pay off, bigly. You take good photos, and we'd love to see more.
PS --- Where are you located? Some folks here are helpful and may not mind helping you. On the flip side, some folks have probably already offered you $800 for it.

Both that frame and the groupset are highly desirable. Do the brakes have a little blue stone on this group would come with either Delta or Cobalto brakes. Cobalto has a little blue stone on the front. It's hard for me to tell from the picture.
And just so you know, it was abbreviated in another post, this is a Cinelli Supercorsa with a Campagnolo C Record first generation group.

Two easy-to-check details should confirm if it is a Cinelli. (And no, I do not have any reason from what you've shown to think it is anything other than a Cinelli. But let's make sure, shall we?)
One, can you post a photo of the frame's seat cluster (the lug where the seat tube, top tube and seat stays all come together)? A Cinelli Speciale Corsa (also called Super Corsa) has a distinctive style of attaching the seat stays to that lug, a style copied by a few, but not many. If it doesn't have that, it ain't a Cinelli.
Two, what is the diameter of the Campy seat post? It should be engraved on the back of the post at about the same level as the Campy logo showing in the photo. If it say "26.2," it's a Cinelli (if anyone else used that diameter, I haven't seen it). If it is anything other than 26.2, it isn't a Cinelli, at least not one from the mid-1980s or earlier. At some point, Cinellis went to the more usual 27.2 mm seat post diameter, and I am not certain when that happened - I think it was in the 1990s some time, but, again, I am not certain. In any event, the truly iconic Cinellis take a 26.2 mm seat post.
Based on the decals, assuming it is a Cinelli, it is from after the company was sold to the Colombos, the family that owns Columbus tubing, which happened in 1978 or so.

Rich, It is a Cinelli, and the seat posts went to 27.2 by that time. 1984 at the latest. I think they went to 27.2 about the time of the sale or a bit earlier...1973 or so.
Though not a Cino era Cinelli, it is still quite desirable and a great rider.
Edit: maybe not 27.2 until early 1980's.

Learn something new every day. Thanks.
And I agree about it being desirable and a great rider.

Just a small clarification.
Brakes and brake levers are Campagnolo Super Record. Cobalto brakes has a wider flat surface on the front nut to accommodate the blue plastic dome. Although it's very common that is't missing. But the Cobalto brakes also didn't come with levers with holes.
Seat post could be Record (not Nuovo Record, no such seat post exists ). But that design lived for a very long time and it could also be a later Gran Sport (if that was available in 26.2 mm) although unlikely for such a top quality build.
But we need more photos to verify details

If you're going to sell it, ask $2500 and don't take anything less than $2k. That bike is gorgeous. If it sells for anything less than that, there's a chance someone will try to part it out to make some money off of it and that would be a shame.
