Found a catalogue for you, from the VCC
http://www.veterancycleclublibrary.o...20Library).pdf Here's the bike from 1950. Not quite good enough to help with gfx. That's a top shelf club bike. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/NG...=w1821-h801-no Found it recently. Gave me a whole new respect for this steed. I decided to strip it down and do a plain mechanical rebuild. I'm curious how she rides. She must of been something brand new. The crank and headset bearings are problematic and I hate taking cottered cranks off but it's doable. |
Old British lightweight, and a nice one.
A club cycle, for weekend touring etc. Check out this video, its great. |

That vid is always nice to revisit every once in awhile. Poster, I hope your quest to get this Phantom up and running is successful. Once there, you can take the time and work on the originality.

That video was in vintage Brit terms was "Smashing"!
I did see that Phillips Vox Populi and noticed that the fenders was white. I wonder if they still have that train car with the "rubber-coated-hooks". Too bad they don't that that here. Made me long for those days. Great posting |
Hi, just wondering how the Phantom is coming along. Just found the same model in my mum's shed. Have brought it back home to rebuild. It's the same green colour under about 3 repaints. Interesting to see if any decals are preserved underneath. Will try and add photos.

Here is the latest on the Phantom decals. Removed enough of the two layers of repaints to reveal very faded lettering underneath. Have painted them to match the off white from the 53 brochure. Then replicated the surrounding art deco design. Now onto the seat tube !
