Decals.

Hi there

I'm a newby to this forum.

I've just had my Avanti Elaine with a Vitus 979 Dural frame cleaned and serviced.

The awful Avanti decals were hanging off as well as looking dreadful.

Does anyone know where I can order new decals for the frame.

Thanks in advance.

There's a bunch, many displaying some of their wares on ebay.
Now whether they have yours, you'll have to look.
Greg Softley in AUS, gts753 on ebay (IIRC?)
HLloyd in England
Velocals in the US
bicyledecals.net in Eng
gus salmon in the US

and I'm sure some more

Bikes: 1974 Schwinn Paramount, 1980 Raleigh Competition GS, 1986 Vitus 979, 1988 Trek 360, 1991 Trek 7000 MTB, 1999 Burley Rumba tandem

Got my VITUS decals from HLloyd. Like them a lot, very well packaged and presented.

I also just got the frame material (VITUS 979) decals from eBay seller gts753. They are close but not perfect. I'll send pics later tonight - I also recently acquired a 979 fork with original decals so it's a great opportunity to compare.

Vitus decals are easy enough to find, but Avanti decals might be a different story.
You can always fall back on the option of just turning the bike into a "generic" Vitus 979 with just a widely available Vitus decal set, but I can understand why one might want to retain the more unique Avanti branding. But sometimes you might not have a choice when the decals are already "unobtanium".
If the Avanti fonts are pretty standard, you can also just have decals custom made, but it will cost much more to do so.

If all else fails, there are a few threads that explain how to make your own decals. You would need to find or create an image of the Avanti logo, manipulate it using a graphics program, and print it out on waterslide material. Some BF members are very adept at this!

Thanks for the help

I will have a look around based on the advice.

Once it's done I will put a pic up but I can't until I've posted ten times anyway

Here's the Vitus 979 fork decal from gts753 vs an original. Guess which is which?

These will go on the toolbox.

Haha, no, quite the opposite. It's difficult today to replicate the poorer quality of years past.
