TX something or other. Customer brought it in for a tune up. It was his father's and now he rides it. Mix of Campy and Sugino, including some drillium on the Maxy crankset and a fluted Sugino stem.

Given the 3 hole pattern on the lugs, this might be a TX 900. Mine has those cut outs. Very pretty bike btw.

Right on. I think only the TX900 had the Cinelli lug treatment and fastback stays. That looks like my size, so your job is to point out that it is way too big for him...
And out of interest, what is the hex head size of the seatpost binder bolt? My '78 930 has a US sized bolt - maybe 3/16"

I have a 78 Trek 730. It's a cool bike- but the TX bikes are something really special! I hope to be working on one soon!
@TenGrainBread you're in Madison- is this the first TX bike you've had in your hands? I wonder how much more "common" these bikes are around here...

The 3 hole lugs are kind of a give-away, but to be sure turn it over and look at the serial number, if it starts with a J, its a TX 900. I found mine in Oshkosh 2 weeks ago. Tim

"Got to work on a '77 Trek recently..." I thought it was going to be a bike commuter story. Still, very cool though.

I wish I was able to get ahold of my dads road bikes.
Looking good already with the cleanup.

I googled "Dick Nolan" as I didn't realize who he was. Seems like he vanished from what little I could find (what info I did find was mostly from the forums). I wonder if he had a hand in designing my 1979 910?

I've been looking for a TX700 (or the white whale TX770) and now I'm excitedly awaiting the arrival of a TX700. (Thanks to Mr Enabler! )
What I'm hoping for is the combination of the light 531 ride of my Trek 730 and the long wheelbase ride of the 720 and 620.

For what it's worth, my 1978 930 is my favorite riding bike, in a stable that includes Masi, Colnago, and SBDU.

Those "enablers" should be called out and publicly shamed!
