Headbadge Vertical Position/Placement?

Is the convention dead center of the head tube ... or builder's choice? On small frames it seems a no brainer, but I'm detailing a 68cm frame.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Obviously it's a builder's choice. But middle of the head tube is the traditional placement.

OTOH - I don't think anyone ever got out rulers and checked either (though these days you never know).

My Paramount is "only" 63.5 cm, but the 1 inch logo is centered in the ~8 inch head tube.

About center.
This also makes me smile, years ago at a bike show I brought a bike that I am the original owner of, picked up at the factory even.
The head tube herald is not centered between the lugs. An Expert declared it must have been a respray as the head tube herald was not on center height wise.... I laughed.

Yeah, ... if the bike has a front rack and small bag, having the "herald" just a little higher than middle may allows it to show. For example, if you are using a Nitto M18 rack the back bar may be about the height of the headbadge.

Well, no point in over thinking it... center it is.
