Weird feeling...
Just been researching a 531 sticker date on google, and found a photo of my bike in my attic on a database at the University of British Columbia. Strange feeling, not sure why!

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
Yeah, It's kinda funny how often I google-image some bicycle related subject and end up spotting one of my own pics. Usually one I've posted in these forums, but sometimes ones that others have lifted and reposted somewhere else.

Very much off topic, but Lascauxcaveman , you've had a 'bike to be named later in your signature for a good while now. Did you ever name it?

That is so Canadian. Using nefarious means to amass pictures of cool bikes for academic use.

The first time I saw one of my pix on a Google Image search was a picture of my guitar amp in my backyard.
Since then, because I get obsessed about relatively obscure bike stuff, the pix I post- along with the accompanying text are among the relatively few results on the internets.
I have run across my pics being used in ads, as well as my pix because by used in examples of things, because they're on the internets-

Bikes: It's complicated.
Rob, a guy on Flickr that posts incredible pictures of his bikes and rides through France and other places, changed his permissions so you can no longer download or embed here anymore. He found one of his pictures in a Spanish newspaper online.
Here's an example. You'll have to follow the link.

I guess the danger now is, cherished C&V bikes that had pics posted by the owner in forums like This, suddenly becomes fodder for eBay swindlers in China that will try to sell it for 19 bucks, BIN, Free shipping!!

I just googled a certain model bike last night and was viewing photos of the different matches. One of the bikes I viewed last night just popped up as a "New Listing" on ebay this morning. Very strange.

I was looking for the history of JRJ bikes a while back, and I found some photos on Velobase. It took me a second, but I gradually realized that the headbadge picture they had was of my actual bike, but well before I owned it. It was recognizable by a distinctively shaped paint chip.

Someone posted one of my photos of my Mercian on Facebook this week. To their credit, they noted it was not theirs.

A while back, frantik pointed out that a picture of my Diamondback Ascent had been used in someone's Craigslist ad, IIRC as an example of what else could be done with them.
I took it as a compliment.
