Had a great ride going on this day and it rained just up the road from me and had stopped by the time I got there. It was like peanut butter.

Some impressive grunge so far. Found from my commuting days. I cleaned it up off and on. Weekly for a while, but didn't make much difference given our wet Winters. Don

Everyone posts pics of their babies. Clean, waxed and shiny. Let's see the bikes that are ridden hard and put away wet.
I'll start with my Moser. This is my salty road and rain bike. She won't get a cleaning until spring thaw. That's when I can put my garden hose out. The long shot makes her look ok. But the close-ups... |
ollo_ollo what lights are those and how do you power them?

After a 30 mi muddy gravel ride on Sunday... The bike is in the basement while I wait for another above-freezing day to wash it.

Lower light is a LumoTec Halogen powered by a swap meet, Sturmey Archer DynoHub. Corey Thompson built it into a Torelli Master rim for me. I ran the LumoTec only on country roads, turned on 1 or both the Vista Lights as needed along my commute. Still have all 3 lights, but only using the Lumotec on my Torelli at present. The final system worked quite well, and wasn't too expensive. Don edit: found a pic of the Lite Stick but the 10 W light is hidden behind the old SA light I ran when 1st added the DynoHub. That old school SA headlight was pretty dim. Lumotec was a big improvement. |
got home before it got really bad

Almost exactly one year from this bike’s entry on Page 1. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0796a27ee.jpeg |
Put about 2000 km on the Bianchi, this year, and this thread made me realize that the bike could use a bit or tidying up. So, soap and water, a bit of WD40, a fine brass wire brush and a rag, cleaned off most of the mess...
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d04f93f4f5.jpg But the salt air means rust and the rust s very aggressive(lots of rust snakes are easier to see once I cleaned the bike off). The bike will be disassembled, before I head home in April. I will slap a coat of paint on it, after de-rusting what I can.... https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...df099bd981.jpg Though I do prefer ProLink for my chain, that lube does little to prevent rapid rusting or the chain. With that in mind, I give it a blast of WD40 at frequent intervals, and the ProLink only now and again... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8243a06514.jpg |
NYMXer and I took a 25-mile ride yesterday (Sunday), after I assured him that the roads in my area were clear and dry. Well, I was wrong. We hit a dirt road that wasn't plowed, and it had six inches of snow and ice. It was on a steep hill, and we had no traction, so we pushed our bikes for a half mile.

It went from the negative teens to the mid forties in Chi-town, had a group ride last night then today's commute... I heart fenders. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...38798fe08.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6bab5984a.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c34eae0fa.jpeg |
