Bikes: 1965 Dilecta Le Blanc, 1956 Royal Nord, 1972 Raleigh Sports, 1972 CCM Turismo, 2014 Salsa Vaya, 2019 Giant Lafree and others

A pair of 1975-76 Raleigh Sprites that were to be riders for my wife and I. Alas, Sandi did not appreciate friction shifting and subpar brakes and chose to ride her late model Liv Sedona and Via. Because I was collecting bikes at an alarming rate we sold them as a pair to a shop/collector in Guelph ON. They were very good condition and had been purchased new by friends.

Bikes: More than I care to admit

My grandparents purchased a pair of Schwinn Suburbans in ‘75 and rarely rode them - I don’t ever recall seeing them on the bikes. So they just collected dust in the garage. When my grandfather passed, my grandmother gave away just about anything of his she couldn’t use to whomever asked (I ended up with a number of tools this way).

One day she’s cleaning out the garage when a guy happens by and sees my grandfather’s Schwinn with the handlebars askew. He asks my grandmother (who obviously doesn’t fit it) what she intends to do with it. She tells him “Nothing, the handlebars are broken.” Of course he’s be happy to take it off her hands and try and fix it.

At least I was able to inherit her Schwinn mixte. I’m about a foot taller than my grandmother was, but we rode it around town quite a bit in the summer, even installed a child seat. I have a town bike that actually fits me now so it doesn’t see the road much, but my daughter gives it a spin every once in awhile.

I’m always on the lookout for a matching men’s Suburban with “broken handlebars.”

Bikes: Still have a few left!

Dave: from the size disparity of those Gitane TdF's, appears your dad & you share height's with myself & oldest son. I'm now down from 5' 7" to 5'6", while he's down from 6' 1" to 6', which means my max frame size is his min(with a long stem & seat post). Don

Actually, my dad is 5’10” so I think he bought a frame slightly too small for himself. But you are spot on with my and my wife’s heights! 6’1” and 5’7”. She’s the one who rides his bike now.

Makes it easy to buy an interesting bike that Doesn't fit, as I also have a granddaughter who rides tiny, tiny frames. Don

Bikes: '86 Veloce, 72 Moto Le Champ , 72 Moto G.R., 75 Moto G.J. , 74 Moto G.R. frame, (2) 75 Moto G.J. mixte, numerous ballooners

Here's a matched pair of '75 Motobecane Grand Jubilees that I sold last year. Both were identical except the seats and handlebar wrap. Lovely long cage Jubilee RD

Guess I could have found a pic of the mixte with the drive side showing ... duh. Sold them as a pair to a collector in California who is associated with the L'Eroica California. Verry, very rare to find a matching pair of these bikes.
