Seeking old brake cable ends

I posted this here instead of in the mechanics forum because it's an old oddity, not so much a mechanical issue.

Yesterday I attempted to install new brake cable sets on an old set of Shimano levers on my Sekine. Every time they started tight when installed but then began to loosen when the levers were squeezed. I sought help from the bike mechanic at the co-op. The same occurred for him. Finally he diagnosed that I was using the wrong cable ends. We dug through the discard bin but found none that worked. I tried at least five (5) other types of cable ends. Each time the cables started tight but rapidly loosened because the cables weren't butting up tight inside the levers. I don't like loose brakes.

I went home and found the old cable ends in my garage and reused them today. I don't like having to reuse them because they are worn and the ends were ground out (the hole was widened) but without them the bike has no working brakes.

I have been searching the net and especially eBay but no luck. I'd like spares because there will always be another time I will need them

I am sorry about the poor photo I took to of one of the ends. It was very cold and windy and my hand shook and I didn't notice the quality till now.

The first photos is of one of the cable ends I need. Please note the rounded end, almost like a low velocity bullet. The second shows how worn they were on the ends which is why I don't want to keep them.

I have also added photos of ones that aren't correct.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Not cable ends, but cable housing FERRULES

How about some photos of the actual brake levers with the ferrules.

The Bell housing kit (from department stores) comes with ferrules like this, I think.

However, I think you can also buy them individually.

if the part in the first two pics is what you looking for they were used in early Dia Compe levers to keep the housing from pulling through. Sadly my parts bin is inaccessible today or I'd look for some. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dia-Compe...&wl13=&veh=sem

YES!!!

Cliffordk - We tried those same ferrules - not cable ends - and they didn't work. I already had the bars wrapped before I posted the photos (and discovered I had very poor photos of the ferrules) so can't photo without stripping off bar tape and I hoped if I posted here I'd get an answer without stripping off tape (Cables are under bar tape)

Bianchigirl

Thank you. I assumed Shimano levers - Shimano part. Will order today.
