RIP Jon, was looking forward to meeting him at Eroica this year, he had just finished a fantasy Campagnolo drillium display. Wonder if our local BF and CR members can still find a way to bring that down as a memorial to Jon?

Jon and I communicated several times about a previous project he had worked on with the old owner of my Colnago. He was a master craftsman and a really helpful, generous person. I'm so sorry to hear he passed. Here's the Colnago that he did the drillium on - everything but the crankset, which the previous owner did himself. RIP.

His ability to bring sculputral art out of manufactured parts was breathtaking - and my condolences to you - your sense of loss is palpable. At least, he passed this mortal coil doing what we here all love - may I be so lucky. RIP Jon.

Awwe, just noticed the thread. Heartfelt condolences to his family and whom all he touched.
I personally never met or corresponded but often read his commentary's on CR. Will add, my lurking and interest in the hobby includes admiration of the artistic 'drillium'. Always at the top of search engines is Jon and Drillium Revival. I've often come back to view his gorgeous and tasteful work. The soul and passion put into each part is one of his gifted marks.

Oh man.
I only exchanged emails with him once, but he generously helped with a machining problem I was having.
I suppose the only bright side, if it could be called that, was that it seems he was engaged in a favorite activity, riding his bike, when it happened.

Extremely sad to hear the news. I’ve had a box of parts packaged and ready to send to Jon that I never got around to sending. They have been sitting on my bench waiting to send out for restoration. Jon was always amazing to talk to and willing to share his time talking about machining; having a degree in machining myself, I always found his work to be extremely fascinating. I never met Jon in person but the news of his passing was difficult to hear.
