RIP Jon, was looking forward to meeting him at Eroica this year, he had just finished a fantasy Campagnolo drillium display. Wonder if our local BF and CR members can still find a way to bring that down as a memorial to Jon?

I think he was well-known on CR (I'm not on their list), so hopefully some people from there are going to Eroica CA and will come up with some sort of tribute to Jon. That would be cool

They are working on that. Great person. Bought a bike from him many years ago. Still have it.

So sorry to hear this...

Jon and I communicated several times about a previous project he had worked on with the old owner of my Colnago. He was a master craftsman and a really helpful, generous person. I'm so sorry to hear he passed. Here's the Colnago that he did the drillium on - everything but the crankset, which the previous owner did himself. RIP.

Thank you for the news even if it is no good, no good.
A Good Guy.

As I am of that certain age where this type of news comes too frequently, it makes one think.

Saw your post over in the CR Group. An armband for the Eroica California ride would be most appropriate.

I remember that one. It used to be owned by another of our members here. I just realized both our work ended up on this bike, too (I did the gear and brake levers).

Damn. I was a big admirer of his work and was always excited when he would put up a new post on Instagram. My thoughts go out to his kin and you folks that were closer to him.

Bikes: Enough bikes...for today!

His ability to bring sculputral art out of manufactured parts was breathtaking - and my condolences to you - your sense of loss is palpable. At least, he passed this mortal coil doing what we here all love - may I be so lucky. RIP Jon.

Awwe, just noticed the thread. Heartfelt condolences to his family and whom all he touched.

I personally never met or corresponded but often read his commentary's on CR. Will add, my lurking and interest in the hobby includes admiration of the artistic 'drillium'. Always at the top of search engines is Jon and Drillium Revival. I've often come back to view his gorgeous and tasteful work. The soul and passion put into each part is one of his gifted marks.

Oh man.
I only exchanged emails with him once, but he generously helped with a machining problem I was having.

I suppose the only bright side, if it could be called that, was that it seems he was engaged in a favorite activity, riding his bike, when it happened.

A very talented man.

I would encourage any members here who have examples of his work to post pictures here so that his considerable talents may be appreciated in another location on the net, in perpetuity.

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

Saw some of his works and posts, but never had the opportunity to meet, or converse with him. Sad to lose such a generous and talented soul. Hope he's riding the great 15 lb Confente in the sky on ever sunny days.

I'm not lucky enough to own one of his masterpieces so will have to appreciate them vicariously.

I will try to get some pics of a Mariposa that I sold to a friend.

Jon did some exceptional work on the Campy SR groupset.

Bikes: are fun!

Oh wow. That hit in the gut. I had only one interaction with him, but he was kind and of course very knowledgeable and helpful. I always enjoy scrolling through his Flickr feed. A great person doing great work that he loved. A life well lived. Ride In Peace, Jon.

Extremely sad to hear the news. I’ve had a box of parts packaged and ready to send to Jon that I never got around to sending. They have been sitting on my bench waiting to send out for restoration. Jon was always amazing to talk to and willing to share his time talking about machining; having a degree in machining myself, I always found his work to be extremely fascinating. I never met Jon in person but the news of his passing was difficult to hear.

Condolences to his family and close friends.

Hmmm... catching up here. I hadn't known about him until recently so I've missed one of the great ones. His stuff is fascinating.

Oh! He and I emailed each other recently, he was going to bring a bike to the summer Velocirque, but now. . .

If anyone wants to bring one of Jon's creations to Velocirque in June, with photos of him, we can set up a rememberance display in his honor.

I emailed George Mount, who recently moved to Grants Pass and was friends with Jon, as some had discussed bringing some of his work to Eroica California as a tribute.

George had spoken to the family. His reply was "too soon".

Let's be gentle about this, and not push things. There's a lot of grieving going on right now with the family.
