Catalog Bikes and Their Stories
I have cataloged my favorite 4 bikes in my collection and recorded their stories. Working on a 5th. Original owner, store purchased from, change of hands through the years, change of components, etc are all written down. Are there others that do this as a way to preserve the history of the bike?

Not quite the same thing, but I just recently started weighing frame and forks and complete bikes and recording the info since I have a scale hanging in the garage, very interesting to see the numbers, not always what you think they should be.

I do try and get back stories and have docs on ones I can. Original owner receipts, builder emails, research etc.
Recently considered putting a little tag on each that I don't ride regularly. Probably sounds odd but I get people over and have my bikes fairly organized. I find myself explaining sometimes but think it might be cool to have a little tag with specs and a short story if applicable. Would give my buddies something to do while I tinker or have beers. Or family at get togethers may find a better understanding of why I have bikes all over the place. Or possibly think I am even more crazy. Haha!

I just started doing this: as much of the back story as I can find, notes about parts (both original and replacements), notes about issues/shortcuts taken during rehab, etc. Easier than forgetting and asking the same questions here on BF more than once!
