The Blue Treks
I thought I lost these pix, just found them tonite. On 531.
I no longer have the 820 or the 420. The 420 went to a friend of our son's- He had the bike all thru college and he's still got it and rides it. I think that's awesome.
That's a 92-ish Trek 820, 1984 Trek 420, 1978 Trek 730, 1985 Trek 620, 1986 400 Elance.

Well it's not May but I just finished my first blue bike of the year (I have 3 in the build queue, a 1972 Fuji Finest, a 1985 Cannondale ST 400, and a mid 70s Sekine SHS 271). I like this Sekine, turkey levers and all, a lot. The frame is Tange champion tubing (likely no. 3 but double butted) and the parts are mainly Shimano; this bike is nearly all original:

Blue bikes
Another blue May bike. I bought this 1987 KHS Montana Pro back in Febbut just got my hands on it. Complete tear down, scrubbed, polished, lubed. Threw on a set of cream colored fatties. Digging it.

Apparently I slept through May. I saw that June is for silver bikes - of which I have zero, and then saw May was blue... belated group photo time:

1955-ish Viking Trackmaster. (Loki is well and truly hidden here. Need to give it a separate thread someday. It came to me with brake fittings, and I have it rigged as single speed, rather than fixed atm)
199? Giant Iguana (the "hippie bike" - converted to 2 x10 drop bar, multisurface versatility)
1977 Argos (1mm of headset spacing and a rear derailleur/chain adjustment away from finally being ready for serious action) Very eager to get this out on a proper ride.

Sometimes, the neatest acquisitions appear out of the blue (not going to apologize for the pun
). None of these blue bikes were premeditated purchases, with the possible exception of the Bob Jackson. That said, the 1962 Dunelt in the front row is possibly the most accidental purchase ever. I was looking for a parts 3-speed so that I could transplant some to my just-acquired Raleigh Clubman, and the Raleigh Superbe that was my uncle's, but which has experienced some corrosion to bars and rims. I responded to a CL ad with a marginal picture. The guy was asking $40.00 for a bike that was 100% original except for the tubes and tires. It was not possible to drive back empty handed after a 40 minute drive with a bike that is the velo-equivalent of a "cream puff". This happened when I was single. The bike is a perfect fit for my wife, and she is in love with it. It still needs a good tune-up, but it was pressed into emergency service for a short friend of hers who wanted to join us for a ride. Three minutes making a couple adjustments and this was road worthy. Hope to do the Lake Pepin ride before too much longer, and if we do, this gal will be going.

Thanks! It has the Miyata serial number format, so it's Japanese. I'm not sure on the tubing. Many of the high end Univegas of that era were made from Tange Champion 1, but this one has no decals. Pics of other high end Univegas around that time appear to also be missing decals, so it could be Miyata's own tubing. It's light, but not super-light. Rides very nicely, I'm very happy with it.
