Clamp-On Components...
Long have I warned against the clamp on side or center stand, my warnings based on the potential for nasty frame damage. Another clamp on component caught my eye last week, when i picked up two bikes at a yard sale. Both bikes are sold but not before I destroyed the ITM handlebars.
The clamp on elbow bar, or what ever it is called, cut severely into the alloy handlebar. My guess, based on the depth of the groove cut, is that the bars will fail soon, snapping off and destroying any hope of maintaining control...

Just wanted to share this in case others are unaware of the potential for handlebar damage when installing clamp on components.

Imho this sort of thing comes from not knowing, caring or understanding the full range of mechanics involved, I've got tools and I can put these on or together "no problem"

I have seen a host of crushed chain stays. I have seen handlebars damaged, badly, by those front bag hangers that sit on the bar. But this is the first time I have seen the damage caused by the poorly mounted, or designed, elbow bar and though that others might want to check their similar set-ups, just in case.

Perhaps but keep in mind that there are a LOT of people who do not now, nor never will, understand the full, or even partial, range of the mechanics involved. My warning was for all of us, newbies and oldbies alike.
