Grit in chain stays

A ratty old Huffy Sportsman followed me home the other day. Finally got the BB apart, and see that some of the grit accumulated there has migrated into the chain stays. Anyone have a go-to device for pulling muck out of the front on the stays back into the BB shell?

I have a very small magnet on a shaft that I use for this. I have found most of this debris in there is metal particles. Roger

Thanks. Tried a small magnet with extension and got some of it. Even a bug (?).

Magnets are useful to have on hand when puttering with an old bike. Sadly, the magnet did little to coax this ??? out of the bottom bracket, nor did it do anything to help dump the seeds out of the stays...

Flush them then use compressed air to dry them out or hair dryer.

Similar to the above post.
Blow compressed air in the vent holes at the rear of the chain stays. Maybe squirt wd40 or something similar in the tubes before to loosen things up.

Okay, I have a small air compressor. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Probably could hang the frame up so the junk will fall down when blown. Good ideas. Thanks.

Sometimes it's just used up flux from the brazing process. I'd try all of the above first, and if you still have a rattle, pour hot water (the hotter the better) down the chain stays, let it soak for a minute, then pour it out.

No, your chainstays won't rust out from doing this...
