Bikes: Kirk Custom JK Special, 86 De Rosa Pro, '84 Team Miyata,(dura ace old school) 80?? SR Semi-Pro 600 Arabesque

I see some of these frames and i begin to think that the Rivendell double top tube makes some sense in really big frames sizes

Color doesn't matter; shoudl be Reynolds 531 or similar - 4130 steel alloy works.
Fuji makes a Valite frame - has small percentage of vanadium in the steel alloy.
No carbon fibre or aluminum, thanks, Beaverstuff
70cm C to C? Who made those? As someone who rides 63-65cm, I look thru old catalogs and really don't see anything over 68.5cm.

- what top tube length is needed? Top tubes are often effectively barely longer than smaller sized frames of the same model.

its also less helpful to try to change a widely accepted term. It creates a bunch of confusion- and for what reason?...accuracy? Confusion for accuracy...doesnt seem great.

The brand name on the bike is Panasonic. From Sheldon Brown's website: "Panasonic, the bicycle brand of the mighty Matsu****a conglomerate,
made very nice bicycles, beautifully built, but never very successful in the U.S. market." T-mar has more on this topic.

It is all black, though. You'd have your work cut out for you a little bit cleaning and polishing/waxing the paint and applying touch-up, but I'd be optimistic (from what I've seen). I can barely straddle it, but it's probably a real smooth rider. The frame is proportioned well in that the rear wheel isn't massively far away from the seat tube, so that helps overall aesthetic. I can take some pictures tomorrow if you'd like.
Yes, please, post a couple of the pics on the thread. If it's not too badly beaten up, maybe I'll go for it. Would not need wheels sent, just the frameset. Would pay for shipping.
BTW, I find that fingernail polish works great for small dings.

In fact, not only is the "offending" text elided, so is the frickin' URL!
On top of that, I had to rename the PNG I uploaded because it contained the offending four-letter word!

That might, in fact, have a 70cm wheelbase. Very clever.

This is for sale in Australia; not sure of the exact measurement but it's huge:

That one looks properly sized at 70cm or around. Plenty to work on there!

Oh, found another. Local flipper, has about 30 bikes on Craigslist all the time. Listed as 27" bike... but that's both the tires (27") and the seat tube measurement = 68.58cm.
So, not quite your 70cm bike, but plenty tall. Bridgestone 400's used Ishiwata triple-butted 4130 cromoly, I believe.

Or a mixte-with-a-top-tube design.

BTW, how long are the longest cranks available?

Option

Rare vintage Raleigh Record bicycle - $100 (near NC State)

"wheel size: 29 in
This is a very nice Raleigh Record bicycle. It is for a 6 foot or taller person. It has always been garage kept

(Not exactly what you are looking for I suspect, but I do suspect the seattube is 29", not the wheel size.)

69cm Triple butted valite Sagres? It’s ligit the right size. Shoot, I kinda want to climb up and try to ride it, relive being 9 years old again!

Got One!!

A guy by the name of Andy knew about one way out West. It's a Specialized Sequoia; at 68.5 cm, I'm not going to argue. Andy saw on CL and contacted me.
The frame is almost pristine:

It's double butted CroMo all the way around; it's 1983 build - gonna check the S/N with Tmar - he knows all that catalog stuff. Whoopee!!

Congrats! Quality, vintage frames in such fine condition are hard to find in any size. That one is a beauty.

Bikes: Yes

Just for fun, I took a picture of this giant frame with my 56cm Sequoia before packing it up.

The big fella in the back is now making a cross country trip via Bike Flights.

Bikes: It's complicated.

Looks like Andy_K has been busy as a beaver in Beaverton helping out beaverstuff.

Need a frame or bike, can't find one in your local CL? Andy will find one for you.
