I've wanted a Paramount track bike for some time and this one came up. Serial number is not Waterford so must be a Japanese import. The decal set appears to be 1990. But this bike doesn't exist on the internet or in a catalog reprint, unless I'm looking in the wrong places. Odd duck. Rear facing dropouts but drilled for brakes, front AND rear! Tange headset, Mavic MA40 wheels with Campy Record hubs. Schwinn branded tires and saddle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty sure its a Schwinn Madison made in Greenville MS. Fork crown right, serial number in right place and right format

It certainly wouldn't be the worst thing if it was a vintage Madison, IMO. How does it ride??

Just bought it, need to add pedals. I've never owned a fixie and am scared ****less. I'll give it a spin around neighborhood and then get my buddy who is a bike mechanic to add a flip-flop. Getting a matching brake caliper should be pretty easy. Ironically probably the only original component. Not complaining, Mavic MA40s with Campy Record hubs, Cinelli stem, neat French TA crankset (never seen one before). I'm not a bike flipper, but glad it only set me back $150. 🙂

You did just fine, we bought my son a Madison for his first road bike, he loved it, put a lot of miles on it, then the thieves took a 16x8ft. section of chain link fence apart to get it. It was a great bike, bombproof, kidproof just not thiefproof. Found it on CL but by the time I got the police involved the thief got scared off.Originally Posted by Horochar

Ouch. Sorry to hear. Guessing your son rode primarily (exclusively?) in single speed mode. An option would be to strip and repaint in pearl white and source a round headbadge. Repro stickers for this bike are readily available. I'm kind of a purist. But probably a terrible idea - financial suicide...

It was quite awhile back, his was black and yellow, pretty sharp looking. It was a flip, flop so after he burned up a few tires I switched to the freewheel side. The headbadge was a chrome oval with an elongated Paramount like 4 point star inside of it, very cool looking. It was a 2004 and as I remember retail was $7-800 although we paid about half that.Originally Posted by Horochar

I bought this bike with the same stem, and cranks in 2020. Where did you buy this bike from? When the paint chips around the logos it goes down to bare metal. Unlike a reproduction water transfer.

Bikes are okay, I guess.

Welcome! A helpful and informative first post.
OP, if it really is a Madison I hope you did not pay Paramount prices for it. Ahh, I see you didn't.
