Or Newbie. All City Disc Spacehorse

Not sure which is the flagship.

This is impossible.

For me the flagship is always the latest build:

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1918/...0029e001_b.jpg

But a frame built for myself has to be runner up:

If any of the above needs a sturdy tender (a small boat to go ashore) it would be:

Or if going backwards into the future - needing a spaceship:

Thanks, probably most of the story with this bike, belongs to the PO, a bike mech in Oshkosh WI, who ordered the bike from Trek, and thankfully checked all the boxes for optional braze-ons. Found the bike on eBay a little over a year ago, while searching for a Paramount. The way it was listed, if you had put a search for a Trek TX900, it would have never come up, found it with the Paramounts. Anyway,, got a hold of the 3rd party lister, who contacted the owner, we made a deal and he cancelled the auction. Could not drive up to Oshkosh fast enough, to pick it up, about an hours drive from my house. Nice guy, had some other neat bikes too.
Rode it with the tubulars till I got a flat, then sourced some Super Champion clinchers for it, sold the Mavic Blues to a forum member. Sold the Brooks saddle to another forum member, and replaced it with a Vetta, added a shorter stem, adjusted the spring tension on the NR brake calipers, 28t freewheel, and retaped the bars twice. Great ride, no longer looking for a Paramount.

Favorite bike?

In 1980s had Sears ten speed. Converted it to 15 speed with bolts, washers, nuts, and 28 tooth sprocket from bike shop, per Bicycling Magazine instructions. All the original equipment shifters, derauilers worked/shifted perfectly. I was one of very few triple cranksets on bike path.

Oldie but goodie. Rides just fine.

A recent rebuild from this summer that I modified to fit me -mostly the cockpit - after adding up the receipts it certainly deserves flagship status and I do love the ride. 87 Cresta GT

Without question my flagship C&V bike is my 1972 Raleigh Professional. It is the bike I have always most wanted, apart from maybe a Molteni orange Colnago super in 60cm if anyone wants to ship me one. The Raleigh Pro is about to go under the knife with some cockpit upgrades once I have my workshop set up.

Easy choice for me: 1986 Look Equipe. This is the bike I've had the longest (since I was a teenage racer and Lemond/Hinault/Hampston wanna-be). After all these years, it's still my favorite ride. An iconic and relatively rare bike from the era when I first got the cycling bug.

My '73 Speedwell Titalite has a degree of cool factor, too, but the Look gets the nod for overall performance and personal nostalgia.

I really like my old MIELE COlumbus SL frameset I had converted to take the older Dura Ace AX groupset.

I neglected to add that it's been through a number of configurations - I once rode it for an entire year while it was sporting Campy 50th Anniversary gruppo 9996 - before it landed on fully-pantographed. The BB and HS are the only remaining original parts.

@ldmatya, man those are both awesome machines. Not really into more modern bikes, but your friends have good taste. Love the Warhawk Trek!

For C&V, my '83 Schwinn Voyageur SP gets the most kilometers. This bike keeps getting better, and this winter I'll be building a Pacenti Brevet/105 wheelset for it, which will shed almost a pound of the current Mavic A319/vintage Suzue wheels. The 35c Compass Tires and Rivendell Silver shifters really make it a great bike for 100+ km rides.

Nice idea! I love my Super Course TT but my back doesn't like the drop handlebars.

jjhabbs 11-13-18 09:58 PM

Hard to pic a favorite. However the Master PIU is a dream bike I wanted for many years. Bought the frame from The Bicycle Stand in Long Beach California, Parts that I had and some I had to hunt down combined with a Wheelset consisting of Sheriff star C records and mavics that I laced back in the 80s. This bicycle isnt "correct" Team Buckler colored Masters were equipped with the team sponcered group, Suntour Superbe from the early 90s. I built this up Mid 80s style the way I like it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0a7901c93a.jpg

My favoritest bike is my 1982 McLean. Few were made, so it's a collector's item and a conversation piece. The builder died suddenly at the age of 29. I bought it used in 1983. It came without a Reynolds decal, and I'm a bit suspicious that it isn't made of Reynolds since it's oddly heavy. But I'll always keep it, and I love the way it rides. It's very confidence inspiring at high speed and in tight maneuvers. I've ridden a tour on it and taken it on century rides.

Here it is with the Campagnolo equipment I built it with first. This is its second paint job. I have no pictures of it with the original paint.

Here it is as it is now. It's not as pretty, but it's a bit nicer to ride.
