I just haven't found headsets to be anything to invest in. A $15 headset can be well sealed, function as well as I care for, and last indefinitely...

Oldschool loose ball, I can make them live forever, HS, BB and hubs, never say die! ;)

I checked "Other".
On my Super course build the bottom headset cup had bad chrome, so I stole a lower bearing cup and caged bearings from my car-killed Bianchi frame. In order to use the unique Raleigh threaded fork steerer I kept the Raleigh top and cup, so I stayed with loose balls up top. 2300 miles later, still solid and working fine. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c09436d0c6.jpg Before. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...37da08c5c1.jpg After. |
I hate polls. My answer is never in the available answers.
I want o-ring sealed loose ball bearings. |
Loose balls anyone.

I have experience with caged balls and loose balls only. Of the two, I vastly prefer caged.

Loose balls. I just tend to stick with what a bike came with when I get it. I don't mind servicing any bearings and like the idea of a couple extra balls in there. JMHO
