I'll put in with you there. Richard Manuel was a fantastic singer. But I liked the tunes with Danko singing too.

Best reboot ever - remember when Bill Clinton and Bob Dole had a short stint doing the real Point-Counterpoint on 60 Minutes? '03-ish? SNL spoofed it, Darrell Hammond (?) doing Clinton, and Aykroyd (host) of course doing Dole. Hammond delivers a typically Clinton-esque soliloquy on the current social ills, yada yada. Aykroyd/Dole glares at him and delivers a totally deadpan (as Dole) "Bill, you ignorant $!v+."
Wasn't Loverboy Canada's official band? Okay, more seriously, maybe the aforementioned Junkies? The Guess Who?
Interesting someone mentioned Levon Helm. He lost his voice as well; couldn't even speak. Eventually regained it, and sang for several years before he knocked on Heaven's door. Going back in time, check out his portrayal of Ted Webb, Loretta Lynn's father in Coal Miner's Daughter, 1980. "You're my pride, girl. My shining pride." The real Loretta Lynn was an on-set consultant for the movie. First time Levon appeared in character as Ted, he was such a dead ringer that Loretta fainted.
Speaking of bass players and females in the industry, Martina Weymouth of the Talking Heads is still playing. Mid-60s and looking and sounding great. Search YT for an old "Old Grey Whistle Test" (British "Midnight Special") of the Heads doing Psycho Killer. Martina opens it of course, and looks nervous as can be.
And +1 Chrissie Hynde and Patti Smith; two giants of their (our?) (all?) time.
Multi-part quiz - This (1) musician was invited to this (2) music event, but declined. Nevertheless, the musician wrote and performed this (3) song about the event. Ironically, a more famous version of the song was covered by this (4) band, who WERE at the event. Soooo....
(1) Who was the musician/writer?
(2) What was the event?
(3) What was the song?
(4) Who was the cover band?
Extra credit - (5) Why did the musician decline the invitation?

BTW, Mitchell was able to predict the rise of CF bike. “We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon.”
My CF bikes have history on their side.

There is a neat video clip somewhere of Stevie Nicks writing a song with Tom Petty, and their approaches were very different. Their intensity and good humor came through.

I just opened up your return package with the thread chaser. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Thanks for the Crankskins decals! They will come in handy.
Edit: You are talking about great musicians. What is your opinion of Asleep At The Wheel?

Tragically Hip? Good band that unfortunately got highly politicised after Downie's diagnosis and subsequent sell-out to the Liberal parties' 'inclusiveness agenda'. I always liked Carole King, a real mensch, and Judy Collins. I know she's not popular in Catholic circles, but how about Sinead O'Connor?

Speaking of Robert Plant, my favorites of his are when he joined Rockpile ("Little Sister") and people like Dave Edmunds for concerts. The recordings are harder to find, especially on LP, but it appears there were a lot of benefit concerts done, on a regular basis, in England and Europe. The mix of artists seems pretty good.

They may have got more press because of it but that's certainly understandable.

You know there's 10 or 15 music threads over in Foo - you guys should venture over there more often than the occasional blue moon.

This is usually a lighthearted term of endearment. Don't get ruffled.
