"Wouldn't a Biere Du Demon or Stella Artois be a bit more appropriate to show with the PX10?"
No,no, I need my vitamins... can't get them from water... besides my doctor prescribed Murphy's... plus, the ferry from Cork goes direct to France... I like Ashland, it's a pretty regular type ride from here, about 15-20 miles from my house (not sure, never wanted to put a computer on a bike) and a nice, varied ride.

I never said anything about drinking it.
The Stella Artois is actually pretty good belgian beer.
Me, I prefer a nice heavy bitter, or if dutch something along
the lines of Grolsch.
Belgian? easy that would be Delerium Tremens bier (high etoh content).

I could never waste beer by simply photographing it. If it is to be photographed, it must have a second, more important purpose. Plus, I need my vitamins after a ride...
I thought Stella was Belgian... Cork is prolly closer to St. Etienne, I'll have to check.

I can't imagine us not just bouncing it along, though. I got to ride all week offroad in Scottsdale, although I forgot to bring a camera and so you'll just have to take my word for it. Picked up a couple of flesh wounds, though. Scars'll be proof.

I didn't ride anywhere today. We're getting all of that crap from California, big swath from across Nevada. Snowed about six inches, and then rained it all to ruin. Did see a gnarlier soul than me out commuting, though. Must have sins he has to work through...nice to see a sticky - get yer rides in here and justify its existence!

maybe this thread as a stickie would tick off the cold weather guys, the ones that DON'T winter ride everyday. CANADA IS COLD people, but its is really mild for winter this week...its 6 degrees right now mid Jan! if the commuter wasn't in pieces i'd go it tomorrow morning

High should hit the mid 70's tomorrow here in Dallas, as long as the wind doesn't kick up too bad I'm thinking of riding to Richardson (and the LBS) and back. We'll see how that goes.

Had the day off so I did a century. 100.3 miles on the odometer. A little windy, but the temps were in the mid 50's. I was about 7 miles from the house when I realized I had left my spare tube and pump on the other bike. Thank goodness I did not have a flat. The wife would have been pissed. Anyone else have the day off?

I rode to Mc Donalds for coffee this morning, it was 18 degrees but no wind,

Rode the Raysport about 10 miles yesterday. Wore too many layers and was pretty toasty, but better toasty than cold. Frustrated a young buck on his high zoot carbon bike by staying with him for about a mile until he turned off on another route. Good thing he did...I was gassed. LOL

Arlington WA to Stanwood WA and back via scenic rolling countryside. The loop was 36 miles. Weather was gray Pacific skies with occasional sprinkles at about 41F.
OK, here they are:
'88 Trek 830 morphed for touring/commuting
'64 British Mercury 3-speed (Raliegh knock-off) restored
'58 British Raliegh Sports restored
I know, but do try to hold yourselves back.

oh. man. 41f is a heat wave. Of course, I haven't been on my bike in weeks because I keep wimping when the temp is high enough.

Hooked up with a gym buddy today, and did a quick 27 mile round trip (he needed to get back to his sick wife). Nice scenery, little nippy, plenty of bikes on the road. We had a real nice time. When I got home, my girls were all in a lather to go out for a ride, so I did another 10 with them. We would have done more, but it was getting late in the day (shadows and chill were deepening) and the little one only averages about 10 mph. Add in a stop for lunch and those 10 miles take about 2 hours.
So, did close to 40 anyway, and felt good about it. Everyone had a good time - my wife is still goofy in love with her new bike, and my daughter is really starting to have a ball riding solo. We took her on some boulevards on the way home, and she's doing well watching traffic and lights. We keep her sandwiched between us single file, and let her forge ahead on select intersections so she gets used to making her own decisions. We tried her on a road bike a couple of weeks ago, but she is still a bit too much stretched out. Maybe in about 6 months or so - we'll see.
Anyway, attached are a few pics of the day.

Naw, I'll just spew my ramblings to you guys, my captive audience......
Stay tuned for more Diablo pictures, though - I plan to summit it again real soon if the weather is nice one of these weekends and I can talk my cowardly riding buddy into going up there with me (might need someone to spot where I went over the railing for the paramedics ). I had planned to go up New Years Day, but driving rain and 40mph+ winds dampened my enthusiasm somewhat.

Today I rode 22 miles from Mukilteo (muk'l-TEe-oh) to the Snohomish valley via Mukilteo Blvd and out on the Lowell-River Road. Beautiful sunny morning that quickly turned gray with steady head winds. I decided to turn around when I dropped to 5mph on flat ground. Besides I ran out of time - had to go to work . On a right proper English 3-speed, eh what?

Took my first real "ride" of my season today. 15 miles north west from home on NW Highway to Barrington. rode my WorldSport for the first time since breaking it down, cleaning regreasing and adding down tube shifters. not such a great route. Loads of traffic, and fairly crappy road. It was nice to get out though. made a few stops. 2 bike shops, 2 resale shops (and a running store. Today was pretty windy but not to cold for Jan 27. Add wind to traffic and being out of shape made for a ride I'm not in a hurry to repeat. but the bike rode it's 30 miles well and I suppose thats something.

Beautiful day in Dallas, drove out to my LBS and planned to do a 28mi loop out of there that I often do either on my own or on Saturdays with a group. Quickly discovered I was short one glove (still missing in action, misplaced after blowout last week) and decided on a shorter higher intensity run. The Gazelle performed wonderfully, hit 31.5mph on a flat stretch of road and wasn't even in my lowest gear. This was the first ride with my cycolometer on the Gazelle so first time I got to see just how fast I was flying along with it under me. On the route back I was rolling smack head on into the wind which made for a painful stretch. But I survived and rolled back into my truck with 20mi for the day. Averaged 17.8 on the way out, 16.1 over all. Sadly though, no photos. Must start riding with groups so I have more photo ops!

Today......was a good day.
We FINALLY got some decent weather on the weekend. It seems like every week the nice riding weather has been on the weekdays - the stupid job keeps me inside, pressed up against the window looking at the green hills shimmering under the soft blue sky. Sure as hell, a storm always rides in on Friday every damn week and I get stuck inside.
Well, today was different. Saturday was a repeat of the same ol'- rain, wind, cold - but not today. Today was glorious. The wife and girl started out with me about mid-morning, and the plan was for me to do a local loop while they did the bike path, and meet in Walnut Creek 10 or so miles distant. So we split up when we bisected the path, and I continued up towards Diablo planning to circumnavigate the base of the muntain and get in a quick 20 miles or so.
Did I mention that it was a beautiful day? Deer and turkey, hawks and quail everywhere. People out walking and jogging, bicycles and motorcycles all over the place. Man, it was like spring...a chilly spring day, anyway - temps were only in the high 50's or so.
So when I came to the bottom of the south road to Mt. Diablo summit, I couldn't resist. I turned right and started my climb. The nice thing about Diablo is that you can ascend it from both north and south, and the roads meet on a saddle a few miles from the summit. Therefore, you can do a loop ride if you like.
This is what I elected to do, and so ground out the climb to the saddle. I won't bore you with the details of my toil, but the views were fantastic, the weather was perfect, and it was a jolly good time. As I reached the saddle, I glanced at my watch just as the cell phone rang. The wife and daughter were in Walnut Creek waiting on me, and I was a good 10-15 miles distant. So much for polishing off the summit, but for today most of the way was going to have to do. At least most of my remaining mileage was downhill!
Thinking quickly, I told the wife to continue on to a local good bar and grill and grab a table - I'd meet her there. That bought me some more time so that they wouldn't be cooling their heels, and it worked out to be perfect - they arrived minutes before I did.
We had a wonderful late lunch, and finished off the ride home. Total for the wife and daughter was about 20 miles, and I knocked off 40 with a serious climb tossed in.
Today......was a good day.

I love to see pictures of fellow BF members. You guys rule.
What a great ride, bossman! I wish I could say the same, I had a beginner's nasty spill today. I miscalculated a turn, I was going too fast, and right into a curb I went. Cut myself up a little above the ankle, but I'm okay. I think I'm going to be in plenty of these little accidents as I learn to ride, so I'm tempted to shave my legs, because they're very harry. I can see why pro's do it, it was a little hard getting the area cleaned up... but no, I wouldn't know where to stop shaving.

I am so looking forward to getting some rides in out in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Sulphur Springs in 6 weeks, Mt. Pleasant in 8. Today I just rode the neighborhood streets for a total of about 12mi. Just enough to keep my legs aware that more riding is to come.
