Sekini in front, falcon in back.

I would love to see those bikes in person,love the Falcon and that Sekine looks like a nice one.

Is this what we're doing now... riding are bikes to Aldies and snapping a photo?

some of us ride places and do useful things on our vintage bikes.

the sekine was a garage sale find that my gf loves. Both bikes are reasonably light. Sekine is straight gauge chromoly, falcon is straight gauge 531. I really enjoy using them for actual transportation.

i have a trailer but long lumber is tuff. When cycling on mackinac island years ago i saw a tradesman carrying 8 foot, 2 by lumber on his shoulder with one hand while steering with the other. Mighty impressive.

I'm envious. My house is in a neighborhood were the only roads accessing it are major thoroughfares, making it difficult to ride errands, even if I wanted to. The closest Aldi is in a bedroom community that discourages bicycles to ride on the streets with motor vehicles, so, I refuse to ride my bikes there. But, I was hoping to start another long picture thread of others bicycles in front of Aldis, because I like pictures of bikes.

it sucks how antibike some neighborhoods are. When i get the falcon done ill post better pics.

+1, and ironic how they shoot themselves in the foot, wrt. economy and quality of life. In this area, every place where bike infrastructure is improved, even with the local residences/businesses kicking and screaming, the local economy and property values/ratings improve.

I replaced the suntour 7 rd with a vgt luxe or some such.... it has a long cage. I have a few tidbits on order to spiff it up.

I'd like to see some more pics of that Sekine. It looks a lot like my Sekine SHS 271. I'm running michelin protek 27 x 1 and a 1/4 tires on mine and I think you're running the same tires on yours?

ill get better pics on that later. Its with my gf at work. The tires are actually studded snow tires. I replaced them and the wheels after yesderdays trip.

Plus, you can actually buy bike stuff at Aldi.

Love seeing old steel not just being used but being useful, Ride on @52telecaster ! am fortunate to live in an old Seattle neighborhood and have a concentration of shops (the Junction) about a Km away. I often ride to the farmers market and in the nicer months I love seeing the old steel coming out of the woodwork, some in original form, some converted to city/upright riding, not sure how many OLCV Postal badged Trek Madones I will see with north road bars and p-clamped front racks in 2025 - they certainly won't have fat rubber

Are those shimano forged drop outs front and rear? It might be the same model bike but different headbadges so not from the same year. Mine has a tange frame sticker. I'm pretty sure its Tange no. 3 throughout (frame, fork, and rear triangle). It's great commuter.

I used my Aldi-bought bike stand last night (the one I was tipped off to here on bikeforums.net) to adjust some can't-adjust-em cantilever brakes on my '87 Trek 520 Cirrus ... did you notice if they're still selling the stands?

The Aldis near me doesn't have beer and the products are a bit unusual, they all seem to emanate from a small town in Illinois? My favorite item so far is Marshmallows and Starts (a Lucky Charms cereal knock off) ...

My girlfriend isn't a fan of the place. At mine, you need to pack your own bags and put a quarter in to release a shopping cart ... which can be a hassle. I liked it for a while as a novelty, but am very happy with the bike stand.

To anyone else who has one of these -- what's the telescoping bar attachment for? - Never mind, I referenced the above thread, it seems to be for locking the handlebars to the seat post?

its lower end than yours. Stamped rear dropouts. Its a terrific commuter and makes a nice touring bike with generous clearance. If i was careful i think it would do 35s and fenders on 700c wheels. She runs 32mm ride tours because they never flat and she doesnt want to deal with it. Ive seen her ride it 70 miles in a day so i know its a good bike.

the bike stuff is strictly seasonal. The bike stands will be coming round again i bet.
It took a while for me to get into the place but i love it now.
