Bikes: 2 many

Green Brooks B-17

A friend is buying one. He has a Brooks already and knows how to take care of it.
However, the question is, does the die wear off the saddle or get on your clothing? The underside is green too, it looks as if the color goes all the way through the leather.
We are still wondering if it fades or comes off ?

Bikes: A few

A I would think it fades somewhat and becomes more of the natural leather colour. My ochre which is 3 years old is nothing like brand new but still has a slight ochre appearance. Adds to the natural charm!

FWIIW, my British Racing Green B-17 almost appears to be black after 10 or so years.

I had no problem with the dye wearing off of my green one (or fading/darkening too badly- it's the apple green from the recent past) BUT my navy one transferred A LOT of dye onto the shorts I had been commuting in. Weirdly, the navy one also broke in quicker/better than the green one (almost certainly unrelated).

I have a gray one, which is pretty light colored compared to green or blue - it has not noticeably discolored but does not have that many miles on it. I always wear cycling shorts - not jeans or shorts, if that matters - when riding.
