1974-75 Takara Model 732 restomod

Picked up this bike off Craigslist for $35 and my buddy and I stripped it down to the frame and I got it powder coated. It’s been sitting in my garage for about two years and I finally just paid the bike shop down the way to assemble it since I’d never get around to it between work and being dad. I’m sure there’s plenty who will ask why I would bother with this old thing. I’m 6’7” and I really like the geometry and feel of it. I’m sure there’s others that may have been better, but whatevs.

Bikes: Current 79 Nishiki Custum Sport, Jeunet 620, notable previous bikes P.K. Ripper loop tail, Kawahara Laser Lite, Paramount Track full chrome, Raliegh Internatioanl, Motobecan Super Mirage. 59 Crown royak 3 speed

I can see why you like this bike as a larger rider I really like the longer wheelbase and geometry of late 70's Japanese bikes which tended to have great basic frames and so-so components. With dirt cheap prices under $100 for nice ones in most markets they make great project bikes.

I see room for a front fender the setup makes since to me I have run rear only fender on a lot of my bikes going back to my BMX days.

I got a set of 700c velo orange fenders and the guy at the bike shop couldn’t get it to work with the 27” wheels. We’re going to take a look together next week to see if they can work.

Thanks! 70% of my draw to the bike was the color. The original paint was a slight red orange. The new paint is straight up “just orange”
