Given the headbadge and downtube logo it would be a 1984 model. possibly built in late 83, but a 84 model

Thanks! Not meaning to hijack, should've cleared this up before I posted since the OP already knew about 84 ProTours, I think. Only bike I ever bought that was pre-wired.

Do you have the SN for this bike? the color combination is 1984, but the Downtube logo and Headbadge are both 1983. my guess is that it is a late 83 build for the 84 model year.

Use the previous years logos until they ran out! centurion did this alot

So it still seems to stand its a 1984 only for the Pro Tours. wish my 1977 Pro tour had it!

Pretty much all Dutch city/touring bikes from that era.

My Batavus and Gazelle both have it.

I have an '83 Expedition that also has dynamo routing via downtube and bottom bracket, but I think it was meant for the under bottom bracket Sanyo dynamo and not hub dynamos.

I guess — correct me if I’m wrong — this wouldn’t matter for my purposes. I run my cables up from the hub to the fork, then under the fender forwards to a rack-mounted light, then back to the fork crown. From the fork crown to the bottom bracket I have to somehow attach the wire to the downtube (aesthetics forbids zip ties, so I normally pin the wire under the downtube shifter clamp, but sometimes it sags...). Once it’s at the bottom bracket, it goes inside the rear fender onto which I bolt my tail-lights. So, for me, as long as there is a hole under the head tube lug and one somewhere around the bottom bracket, it improves the looks of the whole thing a lot. Obviously the fork is still the sore spot...

Would you mind posting some pics that show more detail of the lights and generator? I have one of these bikes, but it's been stripped of all the racks and the light set. Nice rider, but I wish it still had all of its stuff still on it.

That's not my bike, just a web photo for demonstration purposes and I misremembered the name as Expedition when it is actually Excursion. In fact, it appears that this one has had its lights, generator and controls removed. Here's a link to a thread with pix from [MENTION=24271]wahoonc[/MENTION] of his bike that is complete, although sporting a bar change. You actually posted in that thread.

If you need a specific picture, please ask. I actually have two of these that are factory original except for the handlebars. And I still have the original flat bars.

Basics on the wiring; there is a bottom bracket mounted generator, the wiring runs through the frame, the fenders were part of the wiring system when the wiring exits the frame it "snapped" onto the fenders to lead to the "snaps" to the lights.
