Working bicycles, old working bikes

I delivered newspapers back in the early 60's in a huge boomer neighborhood. I think I had between 70-80 deliveries to make. 3 speed Schwinn for my very hilly neighborhood. Huge front basket made for papers. Fold 'em and sling 'em, total damage 3 storm doors and one window during 3 years. We rode bikes all over Raleigh, our parents would have killed us had they know the extent of our travels. Then I bought a Schwinn Varsity I believe in late 60's or early 70's. Oh but the good old days, no traffic on the island from labor day to june 1 when schools got out.

Bikes: A few

Stars & Stripes on a Bridgestone all through Kishaba terrace neighborhood, early 70’s. Used to watch out for the poisonous snakes warming themselves on the road in the early morning. Good times!

Bikes: Battaglin Cromor, Ciocc Designer 84, Schwinn Superior 1981

Delivered the Chicago Tribune Mon-Sat. from 4th grade until I was 16.

Went through and endless string of garage sale Schwinn Balloon tire bikes. Broke the frame on one, rode another through 1-foot deep wet cement. Jumped a lot of curbs during the Evel craze.

I remember the grease would freeze up inthe winter and it would tough going forthe first coupleof blocks.
