Show Us Your Bikes Starting With R

Here's your chance to show us your bikes alphabetically!

It goes like this: every fortnight I'll start a new thread with a new letter in alphabetical order. Post your classic and vintage bikes that correspond to that letter, eg; C = Cinelli, Carlton, Ciocc. M = Mercian, Masi, Motobecane. And so on and so forth. The letter of the fortnight should correspond with the marque, not the model. For example; you could post your Tommasini Prestige in the T thread, but not in the P thread. If you're not sure, take a look at the word on your downtube. There's a grey area with people's names - Bruce Gordon, Claud Butler, etc., but I'll leave it up to the owners which thread is preferred. Make sense?

So let's see your Rossins, Raleighs and Razesas!

We also have these, a Raleigh Pro frameset that will eventually be a 3-speed build and some Sportses; the M23 currently in use and the L23 that will take its place when I can no longer swing a leg over a diamond frame.

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.

Oh, yeah! I do have an "R" bike. Raleigh Super Course. (Not 100% original, but one of the nice things about these bikes is you can build them any which way.)

The original fluted seat post is back on. Turbo saddle is visually similar to the original Avocet and the Araya tubulars were replaced for Mavic clinchers after the Giro tyres flated first ride. Other than that it's original.

Two images of my 1984 - Lightweight Unit - Raleigh Corsa, bought new by myself. This was the first year for the Coras and the only year in this paint - Oyster (pearl white), Rare red suede Rolls has rather faded over the 3 + decades ! Garden image showing new tyres and rebuilt/respoked wheels. The Corsa was purchased to replace my stolen Roberts, which was returned to me (by the police) several years later (!) and is now being restored by Geoff Roberts whose Father Charlie built it.

And here's our ex-Sports when we first got it, an L19 that we recently fixed up and gave to my wife's niece to be her townie bike.

Two of my favorite wall hangers. I purchased the he International new as a bare frame around 1990. I was at a bike shop in Chicago where I had almost purchased an Atala in '72. The owner took me to the basement and said this had been unsold from new but somehow its group had been and sold off. I put it together planning to ride it but when it was done I decided to just look at it.

The Pro was purchased new in box, unassembled in 1999. I haven't wrapped the bars or glued the tires.

Frankenbike Raleigh International with a hodge podge of components but a good rider just the same. I have too many bikes in the shed so this one will be on the market soon.

Good timing. Just installed the Stronglight 93 crankset -- a bit of an anachronism but so what.
This is the UK-built Racing USA, from 1985, something of a delightful oddity in Canada and I haven't seen one posted here even. Obtained as a bare frame from an American eBay seller. Still wearing its "commuter yellow" fenders and yes the vent holes in the fork make the flute sound in a cross-wind (or would if the P-clips weren't covering them up.) This built up into a really nice bike, much more fun to ride long fair-weather commutes than I expected it to be. I almost wish I hadn't retired.....

A lot of nice bikes, here. That Riccordo is sweet!

My '73 RRA, full Campy (other than retrofrictions). This was taken a few years ago; now wearing Conti GP4 Seasons.
