For decades I have custom built my own freewheels to obtain the ratio progressions I want. I use the Suntour tool in my bench vise, along with a chain whip -- the combination works like a champ.
Those pesky rivets in modern freehub cassettes are what Dremel tools are for.
About a year ago I merged cogs from two of these "spiders" (one riveted, the other screwed) to make new 8-speed setup for my mountain bike.
