Is it plausible that some Miele were handbuilt in Italy by Rossin? Bronze brake levers and calipers? This has been offered to me. Anyone know about this and have an upper buy value for me. Likely for a flip but maybe not. Looks likebthis in good shape. L should get back to the guy soon I think.

I've seen these before. I'm not sure if Rossin built these or were the just a middle man between Guvin and some larger Iltalian contract manufacturer. Early to mid-1980s. Lower grade Campagnolo derailleurs and everything else 2nd tier Italian. The other ones I've seen had nice but not great workmanship and quite a few concessions. Definitely mid-range and I'd place them at the lower end of that range

As for value this ones is very dirty around the bearing movements, so race condition may not be good. You're not in what I think would be a in hot market and winter is coming. My offer would be $100 CDN. Even with new consumables, in season, I'm only seeing $200-$250 CDN.

I don't know a whole lot about the brand, but I'd have to agree with T-Mar. It is a nice midlevel bike that should be a great rider when cleaned up. I would look at that as a project. I definitely needs a good overhaul and cleaning and maybe new cables and tires so if you can't do the work yourself your looking at $125-150 to have work done.

Update - I did buy it for a little more than my offer. Based on what was on the bike I'm guessing maybe the Rossin might be authentic. I will have to do some sleuthing to find out. Miche, Modolo, Campy NR rear mech. Campy (??) front derailleur and shifters. SR post. Ambrosio 19 elite clinchers. Some minor surface rust on frame but is cleaning up nicely. Value knowing parts? Also came home with a 62cm Steve Bauer Chinook as a throw in.

Is there anyway to figure out what model level of Campagnolo the downturn shifters and front derailleur are? It's great that the rear is NR ... but interested to find out if other pieces are as well.

Both the shift levers and front derailleur were marketed as "Record" models.

Yeah, I used some light google-fu to figure it out. That said, I don't know if Rossin made the frame but rather think it's a Rossin spec'd tubing, who knows if it was made in Italy either. In another thread somewhere said that they had contacted Rossin and they had no record of it which would lead me to believe that it was just a tubing set that they used. The bike store I grew up working in had Miele's and they would use Tange, Columbus, and seemingly whatever to build frames with. Great riders, highly underrated I think. We rarely would bring in whole spec'd Miele's but rather just frames and build the bikes up.

Hi, I'd be happy and proud to own a Miele like that. I have a lower end one, but love how it handles. If it fits keep it untill spring and ride it (or if your weather is good ride it now, but snow's expected soon in Ont.).

Here are some pics of the Chinook. Rear derailleur cage seems a little bent but might be able to salvage it.

Too small for me. 54cm seat and top tube. I am 6'1". I will offer it up to my daughter. If she doesn't want it, I will likely sell in the spring.

At 6'1" this looks like it could be a good fit for you. It's not super high end but it would sure clean up nicely and be a great rider with all that room for wide tires.

To be honest, not sure what the future holds for either bike. I also have a nice Peugeot that I am building up, and plan to put Nisi tubular wheels and cross tires on it. The Simplex center pull brakes have a long enough drop to accommodate the cross tires. Yeah, I have a few bikes. It's a nice problem.

I had a few riders that I coached in the late 1980s who rode Chinooks. They're competent bicycles but are more upper entry level with their Tange 900/1000 tubesets, Shimano Light Action derailleurs and Shimano Z-series brakes. This one is circa 1986-1987.
