Need help with SR front hub
Found this vintage front hub made by SR.
Takes a quick release so I believe its not a BMW hub but a road bike.
36 hole hi-flange
From what I can see it looks early to mid 70s and made in Japan
Has a F 83 on the shell. Can't believe that its from 1983. Looks older
Any clue?

'83 sounds right to me. Many of these high flange hubs ended up on early mountain bikes. Pretty sure I've got a set in the dungeon. Good hub, clean it, pack it, use it on anything

Thanks, too much stuff though. At my age I have to downsize but hesitant on selling this but no use for it.

Yes, 1983 is correct. It's an SR Silstar. model SH-100QR. The large flange hubs were 100 series, while the small flange version were 300 series. While large flange hubs were popular for early ATBs, this is a road hub. The SR Silstar large flange ATB hubs of the era utilized a solid flange (i.e. no oval openings).

Thanks Tom, you’ve done it again.
I usually think of silstar as cheap Chinese products but this is nice. Too bad no QR. I‘m gong back to see if i can find it with your pictorial reference.
