Droop snoot saddle?

came across this image of an Henri Gautier model 210 saddle being worn by a Trophee de France machine of ca. 1955

have not before seen a saddle with this appurtenance

note the metal affixed to the underside:

Looks it's supposed to sweep back to finish the bottom of the nose.

Brooks made them as well but i can't make out the model number. It follows a nose plate. Perhaps the OP's broke off?

Looks like a version of the B18, a ladies' saddle.

You have certainly got it knocked! :)

Did a spot of research on the cycle and learned it to be made by Peugeot who created the Trophee de France event ca. 1911.

They retained rights to the name and produced cycles with it.

That's a pretty little velo de ville. You should post more detail photos of it. Looks like the frame design utilizes twin lateral tubes ending at the seat tube instead of continuing to the rear dropouts. Centerpulls with brazed pivot posts. An elegant little machine.

a standard feature on many Peugeot frames when one gets back far eno'

have always assumed it to be storage for a spare lamp bulb but lack any hard information

we've had so many threads on "need help with the fork lock on my Raleigh Superbe" maybe we should have one on "help needed with the fork lock on my Peugeot" :lol:

I've seen many saddles of this style including ones by Ideale. my thought was it's to keep a skirt from
not catching on anything when dismounting
