Just picked up this bike for the wife today. Never heard of these but found a few posts about them here. Lady was the original owner, bought new in 1985 -still has the owner's manual and the sticker from the local bike shop where she bought it. It's been sitting awhile so will need a bit of work but is in really good shape. The freewheel needs some work as well, not sure if it just needs cleaned and greased or the hub needs rebuilt but the cogset is turning a bit when coasting causing the chain to bunch up and pop off the front. With a little love it seems like it's going to be a nice little around-town bike.

Sweet bike! It probably just needs cleaning and fresh lube.

Bikes: A few

Sounds like the chain might be stiff. When you bend the chain by hand do the links stay bent?

Bikes: my precious steel boys

Needs a front basket, IMO! Very practical, and looks perfect on that kind of step thru frame.

A basket would be great! not sure on the chain, I'll check that. Very possible it could use a new chain.

Finally had a chance to clean this bike up and it looks great. Was a bit ugly with a layer of gunk on the gears and wheels but everything came perfectly clean and mostly looks brand new. A nice degreasing definitely cleared up the issue with the freewheel spinning. It feels fine but when spinning it it makes a bit of a grinding noise. Spins fine and I can't feel any grinding when it's spinning but it kinda sounds like it. Wonder if that's the bearings - not my expertise. Did manage to get the brakes tuned up, through some trail and error. Next up is getting the gears tuned up. I think the cable needs tightened. Other than a little light rust on the handlebars and rear rack holders this bike looks pretty amazing.
