Looking For A Good Decal Maker

I'm in the middle of a complete restoration of a 1982 Specialized Stumpjumper, and I am looking for a decal company who can print white and metallic inks on clear vinyl.

Anybody out there know who can do this?

Thanks.

For the Stumpy I bet you’d get something nice from Retrodecals

I can tell you from personal experience that Greg Softly is good and reliable. I think his product is more properly called "stickers" rather than decals, but 99.8% fo the population would never be able to tell the difference.

Yes, he is in Australia. No, that is not a problem. Yes, he delivers on his promises. But with confidence.

Not a slam on any of the others, just that Greg is the one I have experience with.

I couldn't find any decals for the Mongoose IBOC Comp i'm restoring so I contacted a local makerspace.
They said they could to vinyl decals, any colour, as long as I found/sent them a vector file to use. After 5 minutes of googling I found the jpg image and sent it off.
The decals turned out great and I was supporting a small/local organization!

And they deserve extra praise cause somebody there had to take your supplied raster (.jpg) image and convert it to vector since pretty certain that any ink printer (like an ALPS) that can make permanent vinyl stickers or a plotter- cutter (that cuts precise solid color vinyl graphics) has to have a vector file for set-up. Hope you gave the makerspace team a good tip!

To the OP: all the decal (sticker) suppliers mentioned can and do offer metallic inks on clear carrier and many can also print metallic inks on water-slide decal substrate, BUT if they already have the style you want in-stock OR just have to make a custom COLOR run for you using existing file(s) it will be much easier and quicker than a full custom job (using your supplied vector files that they will have to perform pre-press work on OR make the files for you from scratch or just visual reference). Many of the familiar decal makers that used to solicit such all-custom jobs don't want that work anymore, or charge so high a fee it's prohibitive. Either way, a "stock" Stumpjumper set should not be so hard to find OR require custom printing...good hunting!

I used sssink.com for my Heron decals. Very good quality. A quick look shows one set of white Cilo decals and several Specialized sets. Look under the bike restoration tab for a link to the catalog. I had better luck contacting via phone than email.

Bikes: ’85 Pinarello Treviso

I’ll add a vote for Screen Specialty Shop, aka SSSink.com. My Pinarello was restored by Tom Kellogg at Spectrum Cycles last year and he spec'd SSSink decals over the ones I’d supplied (VeloCals).

Are you having your frame painted? If so, I’d suggest talking to your painter especially if you plan on having the decals buried/clear coated. The decals I supplied my restorer were rejected partly for quality and because they would have been incompatible with the paints/clear coat used. Would have saved me money if I’d thought to speak to my restorer first.
