I took some hints from here about using Silca tubes, then searched for them. What I saw on Amazon was one that was for 700x24-30mm, and in the product description, it said it was ok for 23mm+, but before trusting Amazon, I want to see if this is ok for my 700x23 tires. Anyone tried it? It's only 1mm difference.

Here's what Silca has to say about it on their website:
"Optimized for tires measuring: 24-30MM (Tires marked 22-28mm when used on wide rims, or tires marked 24-30mm used on older narrow rims)"

Thanks for the help. My Specialized Allez Comp of approximately 1993 is running Mavic rims marked with what looks like "Open 4 CD" on them. Where do they fall in on Silca's directions?

By current standards that would be considered an "older narrow rim."

Those should work fine together. I've been using Silca latex tubes for a few weeks and love 'em. I've used the same tubes with Continental Grand Prix Classic skinwalls (700x25 only) on Wolber Super Champion Alpine rims and Mavic sorta-aero rims, both about 622x14 inner width. No problems.

R​eally improved the ride on chipseal. Maybe a little quicker acceleration, hard to be sure since I tend to overload my road bike with water bottles in summer. But on a couple of 10 mile test rides without water bottles or patch kit, it felt more responsive on our many short, steep punchy climbs.
