If anybody is interested, the vintage Ride is on the 2nd Sunday of the month and the ride starts at the Bali Hai restaurant parking lot in Shelter Island , San Diego.
Approx. 30 mile loop. start time is 8 am...Ferry ride ride is $5. |
I would love to attend this ride again with you but right now its considered unnecessary travel. This is a fun and exciting ride down in San Diego. Great route and riding buddies.
Be safe out there Manny :thumb: |
Way too many blackwall tires.
But, vintage concours are are passe. |
San Diego Vintage Ride...
Tomassini... Was Randor there? (Also, when I saw the gentleman in the Maglia Rosa, I immediately thought of the late Victor Comana... I went to high school with his son Alex.) --Shannon |

Looks like fun. I see some familiar faces from the Pasadena rides, which I realy miss. Stay safe out there guys. With all the smoke, I haven't been out much, though I did squeeze in 42 miles out thru Hidden Valley to Thousand Oaks via Portero Hill (on a modernish '07 Roubaix) last Saturday. I got the Legnano out a few weeks ago on a mostly flat 40ish mile Malibu run, and noticed the rear wheel had a lot of side to side slop. I finally got around to packing the bearings and cone adjustment and it seems nice and tight now. I did a 15 mile post office errand run on it today, and its all good now. I just built these wheels for last year's (2019) Eroica. Not that many miles, but the rear hub sure got out of shape quickly.
Anyway, glad you all got out and got it together. Hope to see you soon in Pasadena. Stay safe, stay healthy, adjust those cones! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a0bd58b289.jpg |
Looks like Curtis Odom on the Peug? Riding on Normandy (?) hubs? Blasphemy

No need to comment on a Thread I created,, the last time you commented on one of MY Theads it was eventually LOCKED due to all your confrontational Covid shaming. Run along now boy. |
As you can see I didn't bring up that subject at all with my question all I asked was if the ride still happens.

be my guest and lock ur own thread Instead of attempting to LOCK my Thread again, try riding your bike for once. Its really fun watching you struggle in pain on Those little 15 mile rides you do Last time I saw you we DROPPED you only doing 16 mph. So Sad. I heard those Ebikes are getting inexpensive. |
Funny how you think I care if I get dropped. Keep going. :thumb:

Won't be this month but possibly in a month to come. |

Another Confente with Blackwall tires.... etiquette is no more. Shame has gone the way of honor.

I'll definitely try to get out for there for the summer month rides. It's going to get hot as balls here, I have to get up at like 4am to get a ride in before it's 115 degrees.
|
Wow that looks like a lot of fun, I'm jelly. You all should treasure such camaraderie.

I never knew there was a tribute ride for Brian. Been living on the East Coast for 4 years now and didn't stay in touch with my 'Diego peeps. Brian was a funny guy who could ride the crap out of track bikes and fixies. So sad that pneumonia took him from us. He was just getting started again with a restart of his Wizard bikes and very much alive. He was a friend of a friend who used to own Pedal Pushing back in the day. Glad to see the folks there riding in his honor. If he was there he'd probably ride the legs off of everyone.

--Shannon (I'm almost 100% sure his name was Dave... haven't thought about him for years. Thanks for the memory refresh!) |
great to see Brian memorialized! He did some great work. There was a Hetchins displayed at the 2018 Classic Rendezvous event that he painted. It is classic Brian in regards to the color selection. Wild stuff!

could well be a Jackson built Hetchins, but if so, I do not think Brian could resist taking a file to it.
Closest he got to building a Confente replica was repairing the front end of one. |
