What's wrong with this picture?

Manufacturing defect? Human error? Practical joke?

Should GIPIEMME on the hub be spun around so the tops of the letters face forward instead of backwards as shown.

I agree with you. Hub should read from the rear.

This is the only hub I've ever come across where the logo is backwards. Your response is {{{ding- ding- ding}}} correct.

Anyone else have any oddities to share?

I had a set of Weinmann brake lever hoods for a Raleigh Super Course, on which they installed the Carlton logo insert upside down, in the mold. I've posted about these before. Now all I have to do is find the old photograph. In some hobbies, rare variations are worth big dollars to collectors but that doesn't seem to the case with cycling.

Seems OK to me. Never paid much attention.

Just a wild guess, those wheels aren't stock and the hipster that built them didn't care about logo placement. Can you see the logo through the valve hole?

Well, okay, then. To the title of the thread, and the first photo, i was going to say... the rim appears to be yellow ().

But now i see there are more aesthetic issues here than could be gleaned from the first picture.

Of course that's just a matter of taste, and i understand my opinion on the subject is completely irrelevant.

It had nothing to do with the wheel build. It's a factory QC issue. The only way to have the logo readable from the back of the bicycle would have been to install the hub with the freewheel on the non-drive side. Then there would have been bigger issues.

The hipster is yours truly and the valve hole to logo is a straight shot.

Good guess though

The branding is actually the same on both sides of the lever.

I was going to suggest that. Or just turn the wheel the other way.

^^^^ Obviously the builder anticipated that bike being hung upside down by hooks in someone's garage by 1980, not to be taken down until some far-off future dystopic pandemic.

These belong in the thread with the "STURMY ARCHER" hub, and the "MADE IN JTALY" stem.
