I think getting into the original Look pedals is very similar to getting into toe-clips and straps. I tried MTB shoes and pedals and went back to toe-clips and straps as I had a few falls with the MTB pedals = not being able to get a foot out in a sudden stop wit the foot at 12 o'clock.
I like the original Look pedals so much I got a couple of pairs not too long ago from another bike forum member. I use cleat covers for grip and am puttin a heel on each shoe to make them more level for walking in.
