Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this

Trek 2000

This bike has been one that I’ve wanted for a long time, but for some reason I’ve never had the opportunity. This one popped up locally so I jumped on it. Unfortunately it’s a little to big, but maybe a shorter stem and I can make it work. The original owner told me he had a lesser Trek frame that cracked and they replaced it with this frame. The reason why the Dura Ace is missing and it’s a mix of parts that he put together. The frames in excellent condition and I’ll just finish it with all 600. He built the wheels with Mavic MA40’s and Superbe hubs and a nice Concor America saddle.

We had same issue where I was.
Frames cracked and were replaced with a model up.
I think they were the same frame, just “up a level,’ i.e. came with a better group.
The 2000 came with DA. Light frame for the time, and agile as all get out
