Barn Pinarello

Alright my eagle eyed friends. This popped up for sale. A bit too far away and the parts selection is a bit odd.

Nitto stem
Pinarello frame and fork, columbus decals on fork
Mavic 999 fork stickers?
Campy front derailleur clamp
Big chainring has a campy nr feel but not the small one. Not sure if the back of the spider would match a record crankset.
Replacement nds crank arm
Modern platform pedals
A single brake lever. If I had to guess maybe a superbe brake lever?
The hubs look japanese to me

Eclectic enough to warrant running out and getting it, IMHO.

$500 CAD. My friend ran out to have a look. Later 80s athena/chorus (I cant tell the difference) groupset. The frame was rusty and in bad shape. The seller was pretty sketchy as well so he passed, even at $350.

I didn't have to drive for 2 hours and my curiosity is sated.

$350 CAD?

Well, that turned out to be a hard pass.

Hey, at least you have to admit that it's a 100% true barn find - abused, mostly trashed, and overpriced!

That barn must have the precise atmospheric conditions that enable Pinarello decals to survive. Once the bike is removed they will spontaneously disintegrate.

My "barn find" Pinarello was $20. Almost got passed up because all of the decals were gone. And it was only from the 90's! Glad I spotted the stamps on the seat stays in the pictures.
