Austro-Daimler Beacon
I have an Austro-Daimler that my wife found at a garage sale. It has a decal that says "Beacon" on the frame. It is made in Austria, has Shimano and SuntourVGTluxe on the gears. The brakes say Weimann & Vainquer. The seat has Schwinn on it. Frame has stamped serial number 5739921.
Is this a good bike, can anyone tell me anything about it? What would it be worth?

If it's on the seat tube, it might be a sticker for the Beacon bicycle shop in NJ. They were a Puch/Austro Daimler dealership in the 70s -80's. The shop's still around but stopped selling Puchs & ADs in the mid 80's or so.
If it's on the top tube, that's the model name, though I've never heard of a Beacon model.
Any tubing stickers on the frame?
Pictures?

Well, then I'd say it's likely an AD that was sold by the Beacon bike shop.

Is there a model name on the top tube?

ADS is the model name. Actually, I believe it was AD-S, though I have seen both A-D S and AD S in print. It was the entry level model, though as an Austro-Daimler, it was a step or two above most entry level models. The model morphed into the AD-SE in 1978 or 1979, so yours should pre-date that. The SunTour VGT sounds original, so you should be able to get a date code off the back which you can decrypt using the info on https://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm . The model year of the bicycle is usually the same or one year newer than the compoents. If I've erred, Nick will straighten me out.
