Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Help me remember - Harry Havnoonian

The last name spelling may be incorrect.

There’s a story behind the request, not worth reviving here.

Show me your Harry Havnoonians!

or tell me more about him & his bikes.

....much appreciated...

That looks like the correct spelling, he was based in South Philadelphia (and still in business??). Surprised there's no entry for HHBicycles in the CR category for USA builders.

There was a write-up about him in Bicycle Quarterly a couple of years ago. At the time, he was undertaking building Eroica-ready bikes in French, Italian, and Spanish styles/geometries. Not sure how valid that was as a business strategy, but the bikes were gorgeous.

Still around and still building, I'm thinking of ordering a tandem frame from him when I get my tax return. I've owned a custom cyclocross frameset from him that I had to let go of 12 years ago. He's best known, from what I understand, for his track frames which have been ridden to world championships. The bike above is finished, and has been ridden at Kissena velodrome as well as on the local bike paths. Once sold someone a 74cm Havnoonian road bike, it was built with special diameter tubing to stiffness. That was a cool bike.

Yes, I know it's just supposed to be a metaphor, but nevertheless I shudder when I read in the article that "Havnoonian cut his teeth with steel."

I really, really don't need yet another jersey, but if I happened to see another example of what that bloke was wearing back in '97, I'd be tempted.

Hmmm, thought I posted this, must have exited before posting?

Harry's brother popped up on one of the forums a few years back. As I recall brother was running the family bike shop, and said that Harry was still building frames.

Looks like the pandemic has been pretty good for business at Cycle Sport, his shop: https://www.delcotimes.com/business/...e07ccb135.html

He used to be a go to guy for Vitus repairs--wonder if he still has parts?
