Huh!

The transfer of majority ownership isn’t so much about what Mr. Columbo needs or wants.
It’s to ensure the brands he’s been steward of for his adulthood remain in good stead.

Are you saying he doesn't need or wants those brands to remain in good stead?

Except while the money is probably great, he doesn't need it. He may want it, but certainly doesn't need it. And he has been merging art culture and bikes for at least 40 years. I don't know why that gets anyone's knickers in a twist. The Haring behind his desk would get him at least a couple dozen Ferraris. The Haring Laser is probably worth at least one alone.

Fun office. Needs one of those Columbus tube frame exec office desks. Did not Cino have one?
I see no problem with the baton exchange.
Almost 40 years since 1983, if that is how one wants to count.
Time to be enjoying an espresso at an inviting spot of your choice.
Leisure.

Love the new press release. It would be refreshing to see them actually release this.

And speaking of reissue wool kit, here is the Christmas present I got for myself with the wife's blessing. Available now at wingedstore.com in the "Cino Collection" section.

I just want a pair of the quilted back pista shorts again. terrific fit, good chamois. Pocket for a jamming tool, but those are all hand slings now. Nostalgia.

Exactly. 100 years of Columbus, a good time to call it.

of course he wants them to endure, and is also mindful of the hundreds if not thousands whose livelihoods depends on the continuing success.

Monstrosity isn't a word I would choose, even if given 100 words.

The Hobo was pretty decent, a little heavy and stiff unloaded. MSRP was $799 for bare frameset, although they were dumping completes for $1k. The big A was crazy ~5yrs ago, they were so far under cost. I'd bought 2 framesets (Hobo, Bombtrack Arise), 4 wheels (DT dicut, Sram 50/60 rears), and 3 completes (Tipo and a very nice Polygon hybrid, as well as a nice Polgon Bend) all for ~$1200.

Anything made in Taiwan these days is going to a fairly high end frame. Cost of labor, coupled with factories with ~30yrs of experience. If you want low-end, look for China, Vietnam, Malaysia production.
