1982 Bar Tape Identification

Hiya Folks,
Probably don't really need to match it but I was wondering if anybody knows what make of handlebar tape this is:

It's on a 1982 Holdsworth, and I'm fairly sure it's supposed to be a shiny silver colour (Kodak grey card is the background). I measured it at 0.4mm thick.
I think it's 40 years old, and obviously needs replacing.

Cheers.

At that time Benotto ribbon tape was in fashion, But that doesn't look like Benotto tape. Perhaps from another manufacturer with their take on the same theme.

That's my guess at this.

To my eye it looks like white Benotto tape.
People seem to be asking crazy money for it these days, if you can find it. If it were my bike, I would probably wrap with white cloth tape and call it good.

Whatever it is I'm aware the Benotto cello tape was popular around 1982:

Does the white Benotto tape shimmer a bit ?

I did look for Benotto tape and couldn't find siver as a colour, they did do light gray and white though.

Even if it's not what was on there I'm guessing the white Benotto would look fine (bike is red with white cables).

Oooh, well spotted it could be Schwinn tape.

I owned the same model from new in 1983, the tape was originally silver so I'm certain it's not faded white tape.
The Schwinn tape looks to be a very close match (difficult to tell from adverts though).

Might be this stuff:

And no, you can't have mine, it's going on that mystery Peugeot tourer which happens to be GREY, not hot-pink-with-polka-dots-thankyouverymuch:

That's 3 options so far: Benotto Cello, Schwinn, Co Union Shiny tape.
The Schwinn tape looks the closest so I've ordered that.

Thanks everybody

Benotto is still being made in Mexico (I couldn't detect any differences). See if your LBS has an account, Euro-Asia is wholesale only. Packages should be less than $12. We often use four total rolls per bike...

Cheers,
Interesting to see the range of colours: https://www.euroasiaimports.com/prod...-1255p6470.htm
Which includes 'champagne' and 'pearl', but not 'white'.

Ebay does have 'white' tape though.

Trying to remember, but maybe that's "Pearl"?

Yep could well be.

So white/pearl is maybe 5th from the left in that image.
And I could see the leftmost being 'champagne'.

Yay, post finally arrived.

That's Schwinn "vintage old school silver tinted" according to the Ebay advert.
Unfortunately it wasn't in the original packaging so I can't be certain what Schwinn called it.
But that's definitely a fine match.
