When an event is canceled.....

Yesterday’s ride was after lunch, unusual for me, but an appointment for a badly needed repair at the Palazzo delayed the ride until the later hours.
The delay put me on the road during a beautiful afternoon that was darkened by he news that Eroica California had been cancelled.
As I descended down the the West Hills, I thought I saw a vision of Bernard Thevenet climbing toward me...white PX10, checkerboard jersey, matching hat. As I passed him, I saw that the vision was indeed real. Turning around was impossible on the busy road, so who the rider was will remain a mystery. I want to think it was someone who had also just received news of the cancellation, but rather than sulk, he donned his finest, got on his best bike, and headed out to suffer on the road like champions gone by.

Bikes: A few

The roads we ride on are never canceled! Hopefully you will be going in the same direction with your mystery rider next time.

My girlfriend's father (now 96) would ride his trusty Peugeot daily until his SECOND stroke at 82 years of age.

Sadly, all that is left of the bike are his toeclip straps, and a clamp on water bottle cage hanging on a peg in his shed.

I met my girlfriend 5 years ago, so the bike was sold at a garage sale for $35.00 before I met her.

ETA- Come to think of it, I should build a Peugeot around that lonely cage.

Bikes: It's complicated.

Cancelled? Did we cancel the ride when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?

The Tourica gruppeto leaves the station a week from Monday. 5 guys, 5 days, 400km, then 2 days in Cambria to do FauxRoica.

Yup! Show up anyway and enjoy the Ride rogue style. I am sure Linn's will be open and the coast is ALWAYS there. It sounds like there will be more than a few folks riding around and making use of a very nice weekend of riding , eating , drinking , riding eating, drinking , repeat.....NOT BORING!

It don't get no better'n that!!!
