I'll be there. I'm bringing the Ironman. I just took it out for an evening spin, and cripes! What a nice bike!

I just had a spoke break on the Chrome Paramount (The first spoke I have had break on a vintage bike). Depending on how much time I have I may need to grab a different bike tomorrow.

It's been a while since I've logged into BF and I just found this thread- don't wait for me but I may get a hall pass to join the ride tomorrow, confirming the start point at Canada/Edgewood @ 10am? I have a neglected Eisentraut that needs a few miles.

Yes, we meet at 10:00 right at the stone wall on the corner of Canada/Edgewood. Hope to see you there.

Thanks, looks like a great group, whats with all the old bikes though? Aren't they super heavy? Can you still find batteries for them? How do you shift? I don't see brake rotors, do you stop with your feet? So many questions...I got my hall pass, coming from San Leandro, some new roads will be nice.

With this ride coming up, I took the Ironman out for after work rides the last two nights. It's running and looking great! See y'all at 10!

I sit beside my Ironman and waved goodbye to the folks before I rode back. I over revved my heart rate and can not move on.

Sorry I wasn't there to help keep the pace down, which has been my role when I make it to the ride. I had family plans for the day, which fell through...at 9:45.

Any of youse guys have any lodging tips for Eroica in Cambria? Delayed my decision to register until now when the campgrounds look full, and I'm too cheap to pay seasonal prices for a hotel.

check out this thread. Below is a lodging option from @mech986

Eroica California 2023 - Sept. 17, 2023 in Cambria, CA

Below is the text from the thread....
I am planning on going up to Cambria but not
likely to ride, just haven’t had enough rides and miles to feel good about the 72 mile medium ride.

I hope to help provide water and electrolyte support at the Santa Rita and Cypress Mountain summits if I can, If Eroica allows me to, and if there are no snags from CHP or landowners. I have a handicapped accessible minivan which can carry a lot of water, Pumps or Spigots, folding tables, an EZ up or large camping tent for shade. I would need some volunteers to help to man the stop. Trying to get ahold of Eroica to figure how to make this work.

as for lodging, I’m hoping to rent the same large house I’ve used before, from Wed Sept 13 to Monday Sept 18, but I’m going solo because my family is unavailable to go. If anyone is interested in sharing space with me for however long you’re there, I could entertain that. Prorated costs. The house is big, 3500 sq feet and has room for 6 adult, 3 bedrooms, a big couch, and a billiard room where if you wanted, an air mattress could be set up too. Lots of parking too.

contact me through my BF name @yahoo or call / text me at Nine 0 Nine, two 3 eight, 85 zero 4.

I'm in for Saturday. I took the Bianchi down last week and it was great to ride it again. I'm pretty sure I'll bring it on Saturday. On the other hand, the Bob Jackson has been feeling neglected. So we'll see.

I'll be there. I'll be on one Lotus or the other. Either Mrs. Peel, or the Classique, depending on how motivated I'm feeling to move 5 bikes so I can get to the Classique.

About an 90% chance I will be there this time. 10:00, right?

I just got my Ron Cooper back up and running, so I will probably bring it, God willing and the creek don't rise.

I'll most likely be there to ride at the back enforcing a steady Zone 0.5 pace, prepared with a list of existential and philosophical questions that demand immediate answers to be queried at points on the route where the road rises above 3 percent. Psychological weasel tactics and old man treachery > "good legs" most of the time.

On my long list of excuses, a potentially better one: I'm out of town taking my eldest to college.

A personal tragedy / failure: This is the only child of mine who would sometimes suggest a ride together, but then didn't take a bike to college because "the whole campus is a short walk across".

This is awesome news! That yellow Centurion was pretty great too, love those 80s Japanese bikes!

I'll try to dial up my Zone 0.3 performance to keep up with you.

By moving 5 bikes, I was able to reach the Classique hanging in the back corner. See y'all at 10!
