Interesting.

-----

may have come off something such as a Raleigh Gran Sport ca. 1973

the catalogue specification was for GB but a number of them came through with Weinmann - one of those common substitutions necessitated by bike boom parts shortages

That's one of the things I thought was interesting...Almost like hose fused SR stem type things.

I have that Weinmann stem, shown here on my '71 Raleigh International. Alloy clamp with a steel shaft if memory serves.

Nope. Just thought it was interesting since I had never seen a Weinmann stem. I am drawn to cool stems, but this one is not drawing me.

Carnielli, 3ttt, some of the ITM, DiaCompe, some of the non-death French stems, GB stems are cool.

I'd love to happen upon a 3TTT Superleggeri that is not too overpriced.

Are you actually talking about one of these?

I have never seen one at all before and just spitballin but would bet very few of these survived.

Yep! That’s the one! I would tend to agree you are probably correct. Pure elegance.

I am also good with elegant stems where the rider does not die...

Haha. Not in my price wheelhouse...plus I am holding out for the oddity that I always seem to find somehow...

MBKs that have no reference in any language...Crest Cannondales...Losa frames that have an engraved Cassani seatstay cap...Faggins made of Cromor but have a Matrix BB...things like that. A Massi made in Italy by Atala and found in an attic in Romania...
