Another Colnago “Sport” to study

Just picked up an older Colnago badged bike for relatively cheap. Has the heart-shaped lug cutout’s associated with the Sport model, nicely thinned long-point lugs, three(3!) top-tube cable guides, over the top of BB derailleur cable guides, Colnago clover-leaf cutout under BB, campy rear dropouts, chrome front fork with full sloping crown and Tange TF dropouts, and a mix/mash of parts including Campy record shifters, Dura Ace stem, brake calipers, and front derailleur, Suntour Superbe hubs and rear derailleur, Shimano 600 headset, Shimano 105 crank,,,you get the idea! Decals are old and indicate made in Italy.

Similar to other Sport models shown on-line

I finally a clover leaf someplace on the frame!

Ernesto spelled last name first,,,whhaatt?
Questions include is this a Colnago? Is the fork original? How old is it?

Tange dropouts on the fork? Probably not original.

Interesting frame, tho. From the rear end up to the head tube/head lugs it appears to be upper-tier, like a Super or Mexico. But the head lugs are all wrong for either of those models. Decals are late 70s/early 80s Super or Mexico, but of course could have been added at a later date.

Just spitballin' here, but I wonder if it was originally a Super or Mexico that had a header and received a new front end (lugs and head tube, perhaps even top and down tubes) in addition to the fork. Stranger things have been known to happen.

Clover cutout in BB shell, long Campagnolo rear dropouts, short fluted seatstay caps (Sports tended to have long, flat ones), mis-matched fork, paint which appears unoriginal, and a seat lug lacking the window cutouts of the head lugs.

This particular frame seems a mix of Super/Mexico and Sport identification cues, at least to my eye.

Edit: I'll also add that the fork resembles the replacement "Italian-style" forks once available through Bikecology/Bicycle Warehouse catalogs in the late 70s/early 80s. Unfortunately, I'm a couple thousand miles away from my reference library and cannot confirm the details. How about a detail shot of the rear brake bridge?

DD

Also, didn't Colnago only have two top tube cable guides?

Fork looks very much like a "Tange 124" model.

Thanks, seems to be a head scratcher for sure, will get an idea of the seat post diameter probably tomorrow, that may shed additional light,,,oh and nutted brakes,,,unlike my 1980 Super,,,

It looks amazing) I recently read a book a long way home, so not to be verbose here is https://freebooksummary.com/category/a-long-way-gone an example of a student summary. It kind of inspired me to travel a lot, but I'm thinking of getting some kind of retro bike for it. I think it's going to be a fun vacation.

Is the lower arm on the front brake caliper bent upward?

Weird jumble of details, leaning also to crashed Super with a repaired front end and replacement fork.

One possible tell would be to remove the bottom bracket and see if there is a pin on the downtube.
most of the Supers were pinned.
check the seat tube too for a visual of how was done.
