Bikes: 1984 Schwinn Supersport, 1988 Trek 400T, 1977 Trek TX900, 1982 Bianchi Champione del Mondo, 1978 Raleigh Supercourse, 1986 Trek 400 Elance, 1991 Waterford PDG OS Paramount, 1971 Schwinn Sports Tourer, 1985 Trek 670

Initially felt the same way about the 1055 105 components, so after a year rebuilt the Waterford Paramount with DA 7400 components.
Big mistake, the 1055 derailleurs and brakes, work way better then the DA 7400 stuff, so this winter switching it back to the 105 components.

I took a Series 7 to a metric century, and met a BF member there with his ‘89 Waterford-made Paramount. No doubt his was nice. He looked mine over very carefully, and advised he felt the craftsmanship was as good. I never look that close. Not my call, his.

I’ve had two Series 2’s, good $300 bikes. I’ve not seen a Series 3.
I saw a Series 5 splatter and wanted it immediately, but $225 for F/F/HS was too high. My mistake.
When I saw the 7, I dropped $250 on the F/F/HS without hesitation. It rode fine, not special.

I’ve had an ‘84 Paramount, and the brazed on BB cable guide fell off. Repairs/paint >bike value.
i’ve had an ‘87 full DA7700, nice but not special.
I’ve had an ‘89, nice, not special, and a ‘91, same.

All good frames, good bikes. Just not exciting.
I have a custom by one of the 80’s era Paramount builders/painters.
It’s better. While it was not made for me, it’s a level above the Waterford and PDG’s

i still covet that Series 5. It’s just a bad ass approach.

On that stem.....

I'm using several of them on various bikes. I find they work best when you snug the back part of the lower clamp piece fully against the upper part of the stem and then just use the front to get the right tension to hold the handlebar. This will eliminate a lot of the flex and creaking you see mentioned about these stems.

YES!! This is the original seat post and it didn’t look as horrendous as is does now cuz it had a matching black stem. The stem was much too long and this was the only available seat post to get it on the road. Happy to trade anyone for silver!!!

ROTHFLMAO! These pedals rock! Only thing out there that lets you pedal correctly. Every bike we ride has them.

Weird, we had never heard or experienced this problem but I will have Adam redo it to these specs for safety sake. Thanks for the heads up. I wish it wasn’t so ugly, but it got the bike on the road and now it is stuck on there cuz I’m not redoing the tape!

UPDATE: On it's way to me.

Shout out to Lenny's Bike Shop in Ferndale WA, motochick for the original post, and cb400bill re: the ad.

9-speed DA 7700 STI, calipers, FD, RD with Wolftooth Roadlink.
DA 7403 hub set laced to silver Veocity Aeroheads. DA 7700 seat post.
FSA SL-K compact crankset, Mega Exo BB version.
No idea what else. Impulse buys can do that.

This puts a Cadex CFR-1 on the block. Or on the road with this pretty group.

Shop says it is as NOS as anything they’ve seen.
Seller offered to reduce price by shipping.
Not my way. I paid what I considered fair price, (asking).
He is a straight up guy and the shop is a straight up shop.
I have no intention of marring the fine finish on those folks.

That is AWESOME! It will now never have to be the one that got away! Can't wait to see what you do with it. And why aren't people riding these things! They are so clean!

This post will look a lot better with your stem.
Both polished, with some curves.
I think it's a DA, but not sure. Has the micro-adjust on front.

Bought, received, re-done.

1. Original wrap was under the dirty wrap. The dirty wrap ruined the original.
2. The headset was loose. The keyed washer was missing. Even with it, the steerer was too long. I found a taller top nut.
3. OEM saddle was missing, replaced with what you see, which is now on a mixte.
4, Shop wear on the frame.
5. Lenny’s bike shop packed it poorly, the axle of the front wheel poked through the box.
5.a. Lenny’s used an e-bike box, so the shipping was $156. By 1”. Palatable if they’d packed it right, but NOT.
6. The 1056 group is immaculate, zero wear on tires, It is a freehub, so an 8/9/10 freehub/axle can be swapped in.
7. Tires look never ridden; chainrings look never rotated under a chain.
8. Stem and seat post are branded PDG, bar is a Sakae that appears custom to the PDG (black sleeve).

Dura Ace litters my stash no more.
Nothing matches all those colors, so the stash bin emptied. Technicolors

40-miler tomorrow.

Everything matches nothing matches.

Drips

Long drips

DA downtubers

Like I said, nothing matches all those colors, so just about anything looks OK.
